Older Weber Geni - deep vs shallow cooking boxe?

Anyone shed some light on the differences in cooking between the older deep cooking boxes/base and newer shallow base gas grills?

I got two used grills to redo and one has 5 flavorizer bars and the other has 13 stacked in a grid pattern.

I can get one of the two grills in good working order with the parts I have - Should I go with the deeper cooking box that has more bars?
Thats my assumption but am open to other thoughts...

I have an older 1997 Genesis 1000LX with the thirteen FBs I bought new and still have on the lower deck and I had a newer one on my upper deck with 5 FBs. They both cooked well but the older one definitely had fewer flare ups and seemed to have better heat distribution. With that deep tub it could take a lot more grease build up before flaring because of the distance to the burners. That's why I kept the older one and restored it when we down sized.
