I don't know if this has been mentioned but I found a really quick way to clean off that brown residue from smoking that forms on the top vent of the WSM. I stick a thermometer down inside one of the holes and it seems to acquire more grime in that area then the rest. I decide to take a magic eraser cleaning pad to it to see if it would work and it took it right off the sliding vent cover with ease. I usually spray a little grill cleaner on a rag and do it but this was much simpler. You may want to try it next time and see if it works for you.
