We got lots of drippings on the outside of our wsm's that don't want to come off. Used simple green, another non-toxic "degreaser", and finally Goof Off, still have that stuff on surface. Have used steel wool also, but don't want to damage the powder coat. It probably won't hurt to leave it, but...
