Easiest place for me to put lid? Simple...I set it on top of my chimney which i keep next to the grill...nice stable heat proof place unless you have kids and dogs running near.

Mod complete and it's great. The ash tray does contact the thumb screw of the one touch. This gives clearance but the tray is wedged against the thumb screw pretty tight. I did replace the thumb screw with a shorter one (home depot) but still tight fit and ash tray moves when opening or closing...

just about finished this mod...Is it possible to bend the legs down (center part where the legs meet) to get more clearance without causing a stability problem.

couldn't you put four screws through the side of the sjp for the hinged grill to rest on? That's how the top grill is held in place on my old smokey smoker. Seems like it would be a simple mod. I have that on my list to try once I finish drilling the bottom holes...bought all parts at ace...
