Feast your eyes on my new Chaney Broiler-Maker (with custom features)

Finally had a chance to break her in last night. I didn't have time to marinade my meat, so I just tossed some garlic salt and pepper on a couple of ribeyes, and made a chicken breast that I glazed with Jack Daniels Original # 7. I also grilled up some asparagus. Putting a chimney full of coal...

Feast your eyes on my new Chaney Broiler-Maker (with custom features)

It's designed to be used with Charcoal. The reason that I bought this grill is that I was growing tired of running out of space with just my 2 Weber kettles. Whenever I would have a party at my place, it became very challenging to be able to keep up. Additionally, I simply no longer had any...

Feast your eyes on my new Chaney Broiler-Maker (with custom features)

Well guys, I finally picked up my new Chaney custom grill after selling off my Weber Summit S-670. I've been communicating with Lawton Chaney for the past month and a half or so on building the grill that I just took delivery of. It is based on his broiler-maker design, but as you will see, it...

what is the appeal of the performer?

Out of all my grills, my performer is the go-to grill for me. The starting convenience of the gas assist, lid holder, large table and most importantly, the taller height are what do it for me. I'm a very tall guy (6'10") so the added height is greatly appreciated.

What do you guys think of these drum grills/smokers?

Yeah, that's a unit that he offers with an off-set firebox. I have been talking to him via email as well, and he mentioned that he is currently making a Broiler-Maker unit (upper and bottom barrel) which will use an offset firebox as well. With that setup, you can smoke in both chambers, or...

What do you guys think of these drum grills/smokers?

What I'm looking for is a larger grill to do direct/indirect cooking when I have larger gatherings of friends/family at my place. This setup seems to fit the bill pretty well, plus you can smoke in the top chamber as well.

What do you guys think of these drum grills/smokers?

So, in looking at the Broiler Maker grill, am I right in assuming that the top chamber is a smoker, and that the bottom half is the direct/indirect cooker and also doubles as the smoke chamber?

What do you guys think of these drum grills/smokers?

I've already got two weber kettles and a Weber Smokey mountain. I just think this would be a versatile grill to have for larger cooks. I'd love to hear from anybody that has a Chaney grill. This guy lives pretty close to me and the price is right.

What do you guys think of these drum grills/smokers?

I've always been intrigued by the idea of getting a 55-gallon based cooker for larger cookouts and parties, etc. I was perusing through Craig's list, and I found this web-site that offers custom grills and smokers. The "Broiler-Maker" looks particularly interesting to me, as it appears to...

    Double-Barrel wood smokers

What do guys think about cooking on a wood double barrel smoker such as this one? http://losangeles.craigslist.o.../for/2583716229.html Seems to be based loosely on the "Big Baby" design.

    getting rid off gas grill

I have a Summit S-670, a Performer and a 22.5" OTS. I owned the Summit S-670 prior to owning the charcoal kettles, and I simply can't see myself cooking cooking on the Summit regularly anymore. I had a big cook-out today for the family, friends and extended family and I used my Performer...

Picking up a Char-Q, stand and cover for $75 tomorrow

Just picked it up. It's in great shape!! I was worried somebody else would snag it before I had a chance to drive out there, but it all worked out! How many briquettes does this thing usually take? Less than a chimney full? Since it has great sear capabilities, I'm thinking about breaking...

Picking up a Char-Q, stand and cover for $75 tomorrow

Hey guys, I had been toying with the idea of getting a Smokey Joe to replace my Baby-Q, primarily for use when I'm camping or out on a trip. I stumbled across somebody selling a Char-Q, Weber stand and cover for only $75. A little more than the cost of a Smokey Joe, but it does with cast-iron...

Just scored an immaculate Performer from CL

I'm new to the board, but just wanted to share my enthusiasm over my Craigs List find, a Weber Performer. It is in immaculate shape! Came with the hinged grate and charcoal baskets. The baskets have never been used! I believe this unit is a few years old, perhaps a 2008 model? Maybe somebody...
