    Genesis 2000 Rehab....

Yes, the lid lined up perfectly. Actually, when I called Weber to order the center portion of the lid because mine had become rusted they informed me it was no longer available. Then they told me that the later model lid was a direct replacement and I opted for it.

    Genesis 2000 Rehab....

I had a lot of fun rebuilding the grill - and for some reason or another any food I cook with it tastes great. I will give my old grill to a friend or give it away free. I used douglas fir for the wood slats - and stained with Polyshades (stain & poly in one step). The wood turned out much...

    Genesis 2000 Rehab....

I got a new lid from Weber for $90. I will still search for an original red one on CL maybe I'll find one. I used a commercial sandblaster - all parts came out like they were cast fresh.

    Genesis 2000 Rehab....

I put in the aftermarket grates and bars that I picked up from RCPlanebuyer - pretty sure they will last a lifetime. And the wood slats are now dry - gonna assemble everything soon. If I only had a replacement lid.....

Where to find old lid for my 2000

I'm pretty much done the rehab of my Weber 2000 and I'm looking for a new lid. Mine is rusted and scratched badly - the only part of the grill that was not salvageable - other than the grates. I called Weber and the lid that they have is the newer style with a plastic handle and thermometer in...

    Genesis 2000 Rehab....

Started my Genesis 2000 project. Stripped everything from the frame and started grinding away the rust. The two legs without wheels were badly rusted - so I ended up cutting off just over two inches to accomodate some caster wheels that I picked up from Weber. I made one very bad...

Vent Wheels for Vintage Red Head?

Anyone know where I can get vent wheels for my vintage Weber? I call it vintage because it has wooden handles, and the ash tray underneath attaches to the legs by cutouts instead of clips. I checked the Weber website and was not able to find anything...

    Please ID my new project.....

I wandered around Home Depot today and looked over some wood for my Weber. They had pressure treated lumber for outdoor decking that I considered - but it was soft. There was bamboo in the flooring section - but I discovered some douglas fir in the trim section that was already ripped into...

    Please ID my new project.....

Mine has a black lid. I've set aside some time Saturday to get started. I may go with bamboo for the slats because of its durability - may be forced to go with the durawood because the Z brackets may be rusted. The wood slats are not all usable - some are dry rotted!

    Please ID my new project.....

Thx Justin, I looked carefully at your restoration - It looks great! I especially like the look of the pine slats that you made. If you had it to do over again would you still do the pine or maybe a hardwood? For me its a toss up - many people love the durawood because of its longevity and...

    Please ID my new project.....

Changed the burners today - everything fires up fine! I plan on picking up some of the heavy duty grates and bars from RCPLANEBUYER on Ebay. Going to the lumber store tommorrow to see what is available - decided against Durawood for now in order to give it that resto/mod look. I'll definitely...

    Please ID my new project.....

Just picked it up and need help with model/year..... I figure it is a circa 1990 Platinum 3000? The shelves are real wood - the previous owner painted them. Gonna restore it myself over the next few weeks!
