    New 18 inch WSM vs. old, do you see enough improvements?

    I just bought a second WSM as it was $187 online. With a $40 thermo I bet it is still a bit lower than the new 18"er. Plus I don't want to wait until they start showing up to get another one.

    I would split them up and cook them in 2 batches. Then take all the meet and pull and mix together once the second batch is done. The first batch can be used as a test batch as well. If something goes horribly wrong, you know what to fix on the second batch.

    Has anyone tried using a strip magnet along the trim of the door and getting rid of the rotation on the handle? basically use the magnet to stick the door to the WSM, and just use the handle as a pull/grab handle when opening?     Loin back ribs on top and bottom grills

    I haven't done it as I put a pork butt on teh bottom rack. I would think you could just lift off the top rack and set it aside, do your swap, then put the top rack back on. I can't think of any other way.
