    Proud of my CL find!

So I got a 22.5 Kettle Gold for $50, was pretty happy to go pick it up, but also got as throw-ins, a Weber Chimney, the Weber 2 piece BBQ tool set, a couple of grill brushes, and two 23 pound bags of Kingsford.

How do you guys light the lump.

I'm still trying to figure out what I like. I tried a Weber Chimney w/o the insert piece so I could lift it straight up rather dump the coals. I figured you didn't need the extra air space. Fire started more smokey though. I think I will just make a pile, or try the chimney again with the insert...

Hello there. I just bought a cover for my Weber stainless performer from Weber, called them about 2 weeks ago. It fits perfectly. Give them a call.

Couple of questions about my new "old" Performer

Couple of questions about my new "old" Performer

I got this off a guy from Craigslist, it's the old stainless steel kind. I paid $150. It was never used, still had the plastic on the stainless steel top. I apologize in advance, as I know there are several threads on this topic and I have searched and read them but would like to confirm my...

    ATB's on the OTG

Yeah, when the wife is out of town, we turn to our OTGs and our ABT's for comfort, don't we? Same here. Wife left, the ABT's went on my gasser (G-1000), cooked them indirect at 220 degrees with some wood chips for about 3-4 hours, and they were ... AWESOME. First time actually. I called to tell...

    Cooking Grates question

Maybe with a gas grill you need the extra mass of a thick grate so that it can absorb the heat, and you cook on the grate, whereas in a charcoal grill you actually cook over the heat?

    Cooking Grates question

Interesting. I always thought my charcoal fire was hotter than my gas fire.

    Cooking Grates question

New member here. I have always wondered, why are gas grill cooking grates so much heavier duty -- thick stainless steel, cast iron, etc.-- and charcoal grates are so thin? thanks
