Bought Rusted Performer and Need Advice Please

I agree with Jon, grind off the rust and throw some touch up paint on it. I'm sure it will cook food just as good as a brand new one that costs $400.

Brush bristle lodged in man's pancreas

I hear ya man. Drove me nuts thinking I could've let one of my boys eat that thing too. The offending brush was a bit long in tooth, but it was a good (brand name) one. My mother bought me one of those wire wound brushes as a gift not to long ago so I'll be using that from here on out. I've got...

Brush bristle lodged in man's pancreas

I had one of the wires stuck to a piece of pork I cooked a few weeks ago. Thing is, I always check the grate before I throw the food on. Couldn't believe I let one make it to the table.

    Chuck-The-Used-Charcoal

I'm a tightwad, so I reuse. I'll use all fresh if we have company and I'm cooking something a little more expensive, but I can't stand to waste. I'll always eventually get around to using unspent coals.

    Start watching Walmart prices

I've had the black premium cover on my performer since sometime in 2011. It's held up really well. I'll probably be looking to replace it later this year or next spring if I'm lucky. Most of the wear on mine is from chipping ice off of it in the winter months.

Royal Oak Lump...I don't get it

I'm surprised some of you guys are having issues with the low temp. I've always had lump, of any brand Royal oak, cowboy, groves, etc get really freaking hot in my grill. I'm usually closing the vents a bit too keep the stuff from burning to fast. Most of my grilling is done with all of the...

What's a good price for chicken wings these days?

2.99 a lb or I'm not buying them. Just like bacon, unless we have company then I will pay the higher price.

    Quick dinner: Chops and sides

Darn it, I deleted the post I wrote. I struggle with touch screens. Anyway, thanks for the kind words everyone. Clint, the grates will get some surface rust on them if they aren't used for an extended period. It's usually just a little surface rust that is easily brushed off. I usually just...

    Quick dinner: Chops and sides

Just had the mesh pulled out of my head after nasal surgery and I feel like a new man. I can smell again, I can breathe easily out of my nose and life is great. For the past year or so I could only vaguely pick up the taste of delicious smokey grilled meat. And here we have a quick dinner I...

    Spirit E210 versus 220

I apologize for taking so long to respond. Well first, as with any low end grill the grates did not hold up for very long. Second, I never had a great experience with temp control on the thing. Any amount of wind seemed to really upset the thing. Touching back on the grates, I can't recall if...

    Spirit E210 versus 220

I've used a spirit series grill where I work quite a bit and am not a fan of it. We have an older genesis there as well and that grill has outlasted the many lower quality grills.

    Jumbo Joe outperforms my OTG

I've had the new model for a couple of weeks and love it as well. Cooked quite a bit of stuff on it before I stuck it in the camper. It cooks like my performer, gets hot and stays hot with the lid on.

    Cast Iron grates???

I've been using the craycort grates since shortly after they released. I can say that I have been very happy with them. I will say that I kept the fold up stock performer grate for easy "reloading" while cooking full birds, or other big hunks of meat. Funny story, right before Christmas a...
