I'm curious what are people's procedures for lighting their Big Green Egg and also using a Heatermeter?

Box looks good! I just bought a 12V 7ah battery to use in a plastic ammo box. That should keep everything clean. No chance of it getting rained on and with battery power I won't have to run an extension cord every time I want to cook.

Update... I think there was a power surge. I found tripped surge protector. May have explained why the chip swapped helped?

I scrubbed the board really well. Helped some... I swapped out the ATMega chip out. All my temps were suddenly within 3 degrees of each other (all at room temp). Sounds like that took care of it. Thanks again guys! If you're ever in Columbia I'll buy you all a beer!

Rotodamper with BBQ Guru adapter plate. PID and fan settings were default when I started. I changed the max fan output to 10% when I saw that huge overshoot.

Stevensheatermeter.hopto.org It took almost 4 hours to get close to the target temp. I did change the max fan output to 10%. That seemed to help

Just curious if anyone has tweaked their PID for an extra large big green egg. I know that Brian made the default settings for a large sized egg.

Bryan thanks for the input. I believe the actual heatermeter has taken a crap on me. I can't remember what the output was doing, but none of the probe inputs were reading. No thermocouple or probe 1 or 2. I can log into the WebUI and see the Uptime it's been turned on. Now the LCD screen...

Thanks Bryan! I actually used a cheap baking pan from walmart and tin snips. Works great! Now here's something strange... twice today so far... the Heatermeter will "freeze up" and not show any of the probes plugged into it. I cycle the power and it sees everything again and starts outputting...
