Kinda sad even I might of paid 10 bucks

I love it, but there is a slowly shrinking market for these classic Webers. That’s not to say that it couldn’t be flipped. It certainly would be a great starting point for a keeper that has a unique style.

Here is another blue one in Louisville, KY that doesn't look quite as nice but has the side burner and only asking $50. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1235565271216274?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A09541dd6-89fb-47b4-8b18-c167a57031bd

Gold in Indy for 20 bucks! Here's a good deal. Looks mostly dirty. I suspect, however, that given there is no scale that this is a half-baked conversion job from NG to LP...

Looking through our collection of brochures and catalogs, from 1986-1988, there are only Genesis I,II, and III grills (along with the XX and XXI as the Jr. was known then). The IV and V seem to make their first appearance in 1989, by which time wide slats were no longer being used. So, I would...

I don't think the glass cabinet ones started until around 1990. That one certainly has an interesting assortment of Weber parts. Some clearly taken from an '87-'88 Genesis.

I still think they are sweet grills. Not as robust as the first gen, but the stainless construction and infrared burner helps make up for that.

If you are really only going to part it out, maybe we can talk about shipping the firebox front so I can see about making stainless reinforcements for it like I did for 1st gen Summits. PM me when you have time.

Unbelievable...I like those very much as well. How can it be FREE?!!!! At least I have owned and cooked on one quite a bit. Still wishing for a 2nd gen Summit. @Josh Dekubber it is great to see you giving that 2nd gen Summit you picked up a fair chance. You got the nice one with all the bells...

Wow, what a deal...Kind of the best of both worlds with the wood shelving but a stainless cart. Josh, I know if that one was in range you would make those shelves and handle look stunning! Then get my artist friend in Florida to put the logo on the handle.

All in the eyes of the beholder I guess. I personally really like those 2nd gen Platinum Summits. A lot like a SS Platinum on steroids. Best aspect is that not only is the frame 304 stainless but so is all the cabinetry. I sure wish that was true of modern day Summits.

One of my bucket list grills to work - and cook on! Josh, I hope you can do a few cooks with pictures and give your honest opinions. I wish I could develop a front panel fix for those 2nd gen Summits like I did for the 1st gen.

    Weber Parts Deals

I ordered the "4 set" for $19.95 for 4 casters and inserts. Not the $2.50 each we were thinking at first, but I guess not all that bad. They were a bit tricky about their wording choice😠.

Question about converting from propane to natural gas

You are correct that there are some grill companies that sell conversion kits. The one that I know of is Broilmaster. They use valves that work for either fuel type, so just changing the orifices and regulator/line is a relatively easy changeover. On Webers, for whatever reason, this is not the...

Question about converting from propane to natural gas

GT, please allow me to say that we all want you to feel welcome here. There’s lots of good sharing of ideas & experience as well as encouragement and troves of resources to be found on this board. Unfortunately, you have unintentionally landed in the middle of the most volatile issue that comes...

Question about converting from propane to natural gas

I am probably one of the less qualified here to answer your question GT, but adjusting the shutter is not the way to go for what you are doing. (I assume by venturi you mean the adjustable piece that makes the air opening at the beginning of your burner wider or narrower.) That piece seldom...

I think the ‘86-‘87s had the wide slats and that they switched to narrow in ‘88.

What a deal on a very early (maybe '88) Weber Genesis: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4112784455600812/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A98aad1e5-5405-4089-9511-db004b45b683

200 grills need to be saved from the scrap yard in Northern Virginia!!!!!

Very good truth and similar ideas that I have tried to listen to from @Dave in KC who like you knows how to get to the point and move them through his garage. I guess I need to learn how, although I currently have mostly inventory of disassembled grill parts. If I had headed this advice and...
