Old Q gas controller

Hi Bruce and John, thanks 😊 The new hose and regulator and valve assembly has arrived and I have fitted it. That was an easy 5 minute fix 😀 The controller is now so easy to turn. The old one is looking quite rough but I am only 3 miles from the sea so prone to corrosion here. Let’s see how I...

    Old Q gas controller

Woohoo! I have managed to order the spare part 😀 thanks Bruce. It was £50 which I am happy to pay considering the Q was free from the recycling yard. Here’s to many more years of use!

    Old Q gas controller

Thanks Bruce. I need part number 17 I think it was and the manual has the email address so I will try that too. I have it attached to a 13 kilo propane tank. It was on butane but we can’t use butane here anymore so a change of the regulator and a service by the gas man and good to go :)

    Old Q gas controller

The model is 396074 and serial number I think is DR0384979. I believe the part number I need is 80476. I have been in contact with Weber, asked for that part and how to order and was sent a link to pay for the regulator that fits on the bottle. It’s all done through a email chat facility and...

    Old Q gas controller

I am going to contact them as looking at the replacement regulators mine is different. I am not in the USA and last time I contacted them in the UK they didn’t seem to be too helpful. I want to do some research first and hopefully find the part number :)

    Old Q gas controller

I have a Q200 I think it’s 10 years plus old and the gas thermostat controller is stiff to turn at a lower temperature setting. It feels like I could break the controller off the gas pipe. Does it need some oil or silicone to get it moving freely? Many thanks

    Q lid repaint

Thank you. I must check how the stand is doing as the legs had started to rust so I fitted some wooden broom handle to make the legs the right length again :)

    Restore weathered plastic

I use the boiled linseed oil too. Cheap and easy and I already had it for the slate hearth :)

    Q lid repaint

I did them both at the same time, mine first which has issues. I took mine back to bare metal and the majority of the other. They were both washed in soapy water, rinsed, left to dry and then I wiped them over with acetone. I then primed, sprayed and glossed mine and then did the other one...

    Q lid repaint

My colleague has been using the Q I painted with the same engine enamel and his is fine. There must have been issues with the prep of my lid as mine has pitting. Here is my colleagues lid EBCC6435-5190-435A-9F76-2564DB79C038 by Liz Quentin, on Flickr[/IMG]

    Q lid repaint

I used this paint as the higher temperature paints in the UK I didn’t really like, nothing very fancy!! https://www.vhtpaint.com/high-heat/vht-engine-enamel It has been fine the only issue I seem to have is that I may have still had some liquid on the lid before I started painting as it has...

I am not sure if the tyres will hold the paint as it’s high temp. I might give it a go tomorrow:)

    Q lid repaint

This is the Q200 that I have upcycled for a work colleague. I wiped boiled linseed oil to the plastic black trim on the cart and Q frame to bring the colour and shine back. 2DDD6F84-FF6D-48BE-9D63-EE5B438EC5D9 by Liz Quentin, on Flickr

    Q lid repaint

Thank you. I am really pleased with how it has turned out. But I have now decided that the base needs a coat of black paint to smarten it up!!

    Q lid repaint

I used a wire cup brush on my handheld drill but the old coating was flaking in places so it was quite easy. I then went through the sandpaper’s to make sure it had no scratch marks.
