    Post your HeaterMeter graphs

22.5" WSM HM 4.3 with a micro damper Proportional 4 Integral 0.02 Derivative 5 Kingsford charcoal with the basked 3/4 full. I used my extra lazy man method to light the coals. Cooking 3 racks of baby back pork ribs from Costco There's no meat probes because it's baby backs. This was my first...

How do you post your live cooks?

Like the title says, how do you post your live cooks? I've tried clicking on other people's links and don't see anything, presumably because their cook is done. I looked around the forum and the software and can't figure out how to do it.

Help wanted for initial settings and tuning

I used your settings and here's how it's going. Ignore the weird blips at the beginning of the graph. I was running the HM yesterday to test it out and didn't reset the graph. You can see where I put the meat on at about 10:55. It took a while for the temp to come back up so at 11:20 I opened...

    Over Night WSM 22"

When I got my WSM I had to tweak that aluminum door a bunch to get it to seal up better. After a nice thick layer of soot and pork fat it doesn't leak as much anymore.

Help wanted for initial settings and tuning

I searched through the pinned topics and the first 12 pages and couldn't find what I was looking for. For some reason my HM stopped working after doing about 4 cooks with it. I put it away for several months (had to focus on grad school). I recently got it out and magically it's working again...

    Gadget for cleaning your grill

I couldn't find anything here about cleaning a WSM so I'm posting a gadget find. I'm lazy so I was searching for a way to make cleaning the grill easier. I found a 24" pan for water heaters at Lowe's. It comes with a pvc pipe fitting and a hole in the side of the pan. You can seal it off with a...

    My HM stopped working

Bumping this so hopefully I can get a response. Let me know if I didn't describe what happened well enough or more information is needed.

    My HM stopped working

I did about a dozen succesful cooks with my HM. My last time using it was just to roast some almonds. I noticed I was getting a lot of funny readings and it never really got things to the correct temperature. I thought the problem was probes so I ordered new ones on Amazon then calibrated them...

    BBQ Season is coming!

I miss having a Weber Kettle. I'll probably end up getting another one someday. I recently bought a Lodge Sportsman Grill (cast iron hibachi). I've only tried it once and I can't wait to play with it some more. I found the stick burner was too much work, too hard to clean, too hard to manage...

I need help tuning my HM

I started getting better results when I opened the top damper. I started with the toothpick size then went up to a fat pencil. I think having the bottom damper closing all the way really shuts things down. Unfortunately on my last cook it took a long time for me to put my sauce on the ribs and...

I need help tuning my HM

I think I've finally have it running better. Unfortunately I didn't realize I was almost out of the Kingsford charcoal. I had to top off the basket with some natural lump stuff. I had to open the top damper more than usual for it to get up to temperature. It's finally hovering near the setpoint...

I need help tuning my HM

How do I reset the HM when I'm doing a new cook? It's still showing the graph from yesterday and just adding on to it?

I need help tuning my HM

I did a test run of my 22" WSM to try out my HM 4.3 for the first time today. What are some good default settings to start with? I calibrated my probes with the boiling water and put the correction values in. Here's my set up; 22" WSM HM 4.3 with a thermocouple w/aligator clipped to the middle...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

That was my least favorite part too. I'm not very good at soldering either. I think the key is to pre tin the wire on the connector. I have also watched video from Tube Depot on building a guitar amplifier and he uses a clip on heatsink tool that protects the plug and helps hold the wire in place.

    BBQ Season is coming!

I received my WSM as a Christmas present. I can't wait to use it more now that I have my HeaterMeter up and running. I've very tempted to cook my first brisket. BTW I don't miss my stick burner at all. I was happy to give it away for free, no offense Steve.

New User needs someone to hold his hand

Another question If I get something like this battery pack will that be enough juice to power the HM with a micro damper through 12+ hours of cooking?
