    propane tank for performer grill

Michael, The original Performers had a small 5lb tank. I purchased a 5lb tank from Cabela's which was quite a bit cheaper than Ace! Watch for sales!! John

    Deal on WSM?

Rich, FYI, I live very close to Weber and have three relatives who work for them. Two of the three are involved at the corporate level. I caution anyone buying dented or defective Weber products at reduced costs for the purpose of thinking they will receive replacements parts without any...

    Deal on WSM?

If I'm not mistaken, the grillguys.com is actually an Ace Hardware in Chicago. Anyway, they always have great deals, and most of the time free shipping.

    Weber Starter

How about Steven Raichlen's Ultimate Chimney Starter? According to his website store, this thing holds 7 lbs of charcoal. Probably too much for the WSM but for kettle grilling, it might be nice to have.

    Maverick et-73 mod

Believe me, Maverick is not as concerned about this as they want you to believe. I have tried to deal with Meverick for four months. I have paid return shipping costs several times. Each and every time I received a replacement, they were either used, (one was smeared with grease...smelled like...

    Maverick et-73 mod

Not to start something here, and I wasn't going to mention it until I read your post. I went from a Maverick to the Nu-Temps. To be perfectly honest, I am not impressed with the distance with them as well. Even line of sight distance was not impressive to me. No where near what it is advertised...

    Maverick et-73 mod

I am glad we are figuring out the Maverick problems. Think I will put the Mavericks back in service and box up the Nu-Temps for storage. Unfortunately, one of my Nu-Temp probes failed and the Nu-Temp people won't return my calls or emails. I mailed it back to them with a letter explaining the...

    Maverick et-73 mod

Based on my telephone conversations with Maverick, I doubt very much will come of this.

    Salmon/Cedar Planks

The shingles or shakes that are sold at the Home Depot are just pre cut (milled) cedar boards. At least around here in Chicago it is. My father is a retired VP of a major national lumber mfg. and he tells me that shakes are simply milled untreated cedar however, that's not to say someone...

    Salmon/Cedar Planks

I think a cedar plank gives a nice mild taste to the fish. I don't think anyone is using this idea as a marketing ploy. I do however, have issue with the prices charged for the planks. I just go to the Home Depot, but a 1x10x10 cedar board, cut in in half length wise and then cut individual...

    1st Butt in Over a Year / ET-73 / Sand / Air Leaks

Do a search on the et-73 problems. I think you will find the distance issue to be a problem for most who have used it. Many of us have switched to (or has beeen using) the Nu-Temp.

    Briquettes vs Lump in WSM?

Oh sure Shawn, rub it in! Wish Maple Leaf Lump was still sold in the states. I can only get the Maple Leaf Charcoal (which is great stuff as well) and that's via UPS across the country! Shipping is twice as much as the charcoal.

    My first smoke results

As mentioned above, I'm thinking the ribs weren't cooked long enough. I'm surprised that you had to add water and more lit coals at the two hour mark. Three layers of unlit charcoal, 1/2 full chimney of lit and nice weather should have produced a pretty hot fire for longer then two hours...

Dave, might just take you up on that offer. I will contact you if and when I get the chance to get down there. Thank you. By the way..do you think a former Detroit Diesel Allison guy would be allowed in Cat country?

    Maple Leaf Charcoal

Shawn & Jerry, let's talk via email. My email address is in my profile. We shouldn't take up forum space while we work on this. If we come up with a source that other's can benefit from, we can come back to the forum to share that information. Talk to you soon. Thanks

    Annual Wine Thread

I forgot to mention that in my post Konrad. Very lucky to have a winery like that so close. I hear they have some great wine tasting parties. I've been buying Ste Michele for several years no. I think the best price per bottle (case price) by me is around $35 for the '99 reserve.

    Maple Leaf Charcoal

Ok Shawn. I will contact you shortly and we can go from there. By the way. I am only 15 miles from Weber. Every once in awhile, they have a "yard sale" with all their products heavily discounted. So, maybe I can help you out as well. Thanks again.
