Speaking of Charcoal Sales - What's better: KBB or KBB Competition and why?

No reason to buy the competition bag. Burns too hot and doesn't last very long.

    Horrible Smithfield ribs from Walmart--beware!!

Smithfield ribs are terrible. From old and large hogs, poorly butchered and full of fat. You will lose at least 1/4 of the weight after trimming off all of the fat.

Weber Q Cast Iron Grid on 22" Kettle

Funny cause the Weber CS people suggested this technique to me about a yr ago. I use the cast iron grate on my 18.5 charcoal kettle and on my Summit S-450. It makes a huge difference in flavor. You can buy the grates for about $20 dollars.

    Genesis or Summit?

The Summit line is overpriced and not well built. Stick with the Genesis line. if you want a really high end grill, Weber isn't the way to go.This is not their sweet spot. in fact, gas grills is not heir specialty. I won a Summit 470 at work and have it for a year. Thank God it was warranty. I...

    weber 640

T, I won this grill at work about a yr. ago. I have been disappointed with it. For the price, it just doesn't cut the mustard. The kobs aren't sealed well and get rain water in them which freezes, making them inoperable. Weber needs to either revamp the 600 line or abandon it. The better...

    Summit 670 worth it?

I just got my Summit 670 put together. Haven't used the sear burner yet but will offer a review when i use it. A very well built grill. I don't think worth the price but i got mine for free at work.I sed it today for kabobs, shrimp and chicken, and veggies. it worked very well.

The summit 670 does have the sear burner. I got one for free at work and just received the packing box. Can't wait to put it together and try it. Hopefully, the sear burner will work well.

    Smoking Chunks in New Jersey

thanks for the replies. I can buy oak and cherry at firewood stands and cit it into chunks with a chainsaw i suppose. It would be nice to simply buy chunks of various types of wood flavors like alder, pecan, etc.Even the chunk selection this time of the year in Jersey is terrible. The locals...

    Smoking Chunks in New Jersey

Hello All, I just moved to northern New Jersey and can't ind a place to buy various flavors of smoking chunks. This is not exactly BBQ country but you would expect some place to carry smoking wood. it seems in jersey, the locals think BBQ is only a warm weather sport. They don't seem to get...

    Maverick Thermometer ET 73

Hi All, I purchased the ET 73 the other day and it works fine. However, after reading the instructions several times, I can't figure how to turn off the receiver. Maybe the on/off switch ,which is quite cheap, is the problem. I turn it on the off position and it won't turn off. Any suggestions?

I am relatively new to the WSM and am still learning about how to properly get the temps correctly. I am going to be smoking a nice 2 lb fillet of salmon and am trying to get a temp in the smoker between 160 and 180. I would appreciate any detailed suggestions on how to set-up the WSM to acheive...

    Costco or Sam's Club

Hi All, I am a Sam's member and not very happy with the quality of their meat and poultry. My membership is ending and I was wondering if any of you have any opinions on whether Sam's or Costco had better food for BBQ'ing? Thanks

    Lid leaking smoke

Happy Labor Day weekend, I am doing my second smoke today and noticed steady wisps of smoke coming up in 2 places where the lid meets the top of the middle section. Is this normal or does that mean I have a problem. If a problem, how do I fix? Thanks
