    Weber fire starter cube question

For those of you that use the cubes, how many would you use to replace the Minion method? I normally use 12-13 lit coals spread over the charcoal.

    Early 22.5" water pan question

Is the lid from a Smokey Joe the same size as the shallow water pan that came in the original 22.5"? I have a CB conversion that I really don't like the pan but don't want to pay $75 for one from Weber.

    WSM in high winds

We had a competition this past weekend and in addition to rain, then sleet, then snow, we had winds from 25 to 40 mph!! I have two vents in the lid of my cookers and if I had the downwind vent open, the wind sucked the heat right out of the cooker but if I closed it and opened the vent pointing...

Local Walmarts closing out 18 1/2" for $249.00

If you are looking, our local wallys are selling the 18 1/2 for $249 so you might check the ones close to you. Not a big discount, but some. Now if they do the 22 1/2 for $349, I'm all over it but I haven't seen any 22s at wally.

Maiden voyage for the 14 1/2"

Got my special deal in from Amazon thanks to Bob and decided to try it Sat. with 2 slabs of St. Louis ribs. Obviously, the slabs had to be cut in half as they won't fit the grate and I didn't want to use rib racks. I did nothing like I normally do. I wanted to give it a good test. No Minion...

    Value of a model 1880

Anyone have an idea of what a Model 1880 in fair shape is worth? With the new 14" at $199 its value would have to be as a collector piece.

New Cajun Bandit additions in use

I replaced the doors on my WSMs with the Cajun Bandit stainless steel doors and the Southco Compression latch, SC-62315, previously posted on here. I also ordered the kettle conversion kit for an extra OTS I had sitting around and used all of them in a competition this past weekend. I can't...

Has anyone done the Cajun conversion kit to convert the 22" kettle into a WSM? If so, what are your impressions?

    Need a part number

I am looking for a part number for the Tuck-Away Lid Holder for the Platinum Performer 22" if anyone has it. I called Weber, but they said it isn't available as a separate part but that makes no sense to me. How would you replace a damaged one if the part isn't available.

    Rotisserie on the WSM

When I ordered my rotisserie I just assumed it would fit the WSM also. Well, it doesn't exactly, but I had the smoker already fired up and ready so i decided to see it I could make it work. It will work, bit it doesn't fit real tight where the rotisserie ring fits on the barrel of the smoker so...

Anyone attached an aluminum pan to bottom of top grate?

Considering attaching an aluminum pan to the bottom side of the top grate to cook ribs on both racks without having the ones on top drip on the bottom ones. I'm curious if anyone has tried this and how it affected the cooking of the ribs on both racks. My thinking is that it shouldn't have much...

    Time to retire the Redhead

It has performed flawlessly but time to put it away. I like the new blue, just not as much as red.

Some have asked to see the army blanket cover I use. Here it is. Used it yesterday. Was cold, rainy, and sleeting. Just kept chugging.

Has anyone moved water pan lower?

Curious if anyone has moved their water pan lower to get it further away from the lower grate and therefore the meat on that grate? My biggest concern is that it would be closer to fire and maybe get too hot. Thought the separation might help with bark on the meat on the lower grate.

Met Mr. Trigg, Mr. Lilly, and Mr. Soo at Royal today!

I had the honor to meet and talk with all of these gentlemen at the Royal today. I say gentlemen because they are. They were cooking in the Invitational getting close to turn in for chicken but treated me as if they had known me for years. Don't get me wrong, I didn't just butt in and start...

    First smoke on Mini

Tried out the new mini on Saturday. I have to say I am very surprised at how well it cooks. Did ribs, less than a whole rack St. Louis cut spares. Set the temp at 235 just below the grate which is 250-260 at the top vent. Held steady as a rock once the temp settled. Used a 9' foiled cake pan for...
