    Best Brownies Ever

I really wanted to make the beer and pecan brownies that Joan posted but the wife wanted me to make these. We each had one and agreed they were really good (ooey gooey good) but thought we needed another opinion before calling them The Best Ever. I took the plate over to my neighbor's 3 son's...

    My SF saga

I received a call from Weber Support last night and a follow-up email to discuss the cold weather issues I've been having. To be clear, I'm not sure they're only cold weather issues or if they just happened to start when it was cold out. The call was likely the result of my rating and comments...

Day two - Smoked beef plank short ribs

Yesterday we ate the first rack of beef ribs straight off the grill. Today I kicked it up a notch and braised the second rack to fork tenderness. Started by carmelizing an onion in olive oil then added carrots and celery and tomato paste. Added a bit of Jack Daniels, red wine, beef stock...

Smoked beef plank short ribs competition with two old friends

My SmokeFire is on the "too cold to cook list" for probably the rest of the Winter so I thought it would be fun to have a friendly beef plank short rib competition with two old friends. I bought these prime beef ribs from Cattle and Cream which is a small meat market and ice cream shop in...

Build your own Nacho bar for the college football games tonight

Trying to put a little excitement into watching the college football games tonight so we have a build your own nacho bar featuring brisket, pulled pork and turkey for the meat and lots of toppings. My selection of toppings was about as boring as the whole college football season has been this...

Looking for assistance from any cold weather SF users

If there are any cold weather users I would appreciate if you could tell me how long it takes to get to 600 degrees preferably when the outside temperature is 35 degrees or lower. I had several issues the other night one of which was that it took 35 to 40 minutes to reach 600 degrees. Outside...

    Brunswick Stew

On a cold December day I like to eat a big bowl of Brunswick stew almost as much as a big bowl of chili. Especially when it's made with leftover brisket and pulled pork smoked on the SmokeFire and turkey smoked on the WSM. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a couple...

16 oz prime rib eyes reverse seared on the SmokeFire........or not!

Did my monthly shopping at Sam's Club the other day and found crazy good deals on an 18 pound prime brisket and 2 16 oz prime rib eyes. Was supposed to smoke the brisket last night but the event got canceled due to COVID so it's in the freezer to smoke another day. Decided to reverse sear the...

    Vacuum to clean SmokeFire

Searched and couldn't find a post on this. Prior to buying my SF I just picked up my Weber kettles and dumped the charcoal ash in a trash can. Can't do that with the SF so I tried my shop vac and a cloud of dust blew out and luckily I was outside. It was one that has the cloth filter with a...

Scotch eggs smoked on the SmokeFire

Scotch eggs smoked on the SmokeFire then placed in a nest of hash browns and topped with country gravy and served on our finest china. A lot of work but so worth it. Sorry no action shots as it was 19 degrees out there this morning.

    SmokeFire Performance in Cold Weather

Anyone have any experience with the SF in cold weather? Planning an overnight brisket cook tomorrow night and it's supposed to get down to 21 F and wondering what to expect. Assume it will use a lot more pellets than warm weather so planning on checking in on it a couple times during the...

Lady's Chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron skillet

Found this recipe on modernhoney.com several years ago and it is outstanding. Works best in a 12" cast iron skillet and don't overcook. I usually take it out of the oven after 28 minutes. The more ooey, gooey the better it is. Tried it on the SmokeFire and it was good but in the oven it is...

    She's Back!

First cook on the EX6 in over 3 weeks! Two Detroit style deep dish pizzas and they were delicious. The new glow plug glowed and the SF reached 500 with no effort. You have no idea how happy I am. Nice weather predicted for the next 10 days so the SF will be working every day.

Buying a Weber from a pallet liquidation warehouse

Anyone have any experience buying a Weber grill (or any major appliance) from a pallet liquidation warehouse? I’d never heard of them until I watched a YouTube video by Trendkill BBQ where he reviewed a brand-new Weber Genesis II S-335 that he bought from a pallet sale for around $100. Those...

Not new but want to share information for full disclosure

I've been a member of this Board for several years. I think I joined when I bought my WSM since smoking meat was totally new to me. While I haven't posted a lot, I have gained an enormous amount of information here. Ten weeks ago, I purchased a SmokeFire EX6 and it has been inoperable for 5 of...

    Glow Plug Problems

Has anyone used a blow torch or other method to light the SF when the glow plug doesn't fire? This is suggested on another site and they even have videos on how to do it. I can't believe it's safe and I even asked a Weber support person who said besides the safety issue it could void the...

    New EX6 Owner

Finally made the plunge and ordered an EX6 direct from Weber. Arrived in 3 days and the first thing I did was look at the manufacture date and was disappointed to see February 2020. Assembly was easy and the initial startup went well and reached 600° in about 13 minutes. It came with the...

    EX6

I have been following the Smokefire since they first came out but have been reluctant to pull the trigger because of all the problems. An Ace Hardware near me is discounting a floor model EX6 to $850 because they would rather sell it than wait for Weber to pull it. It has an early manufacture...
