Ron welcome to the forum. I am not sure about the genesis, but when I got my summit the side shelves are shipped separate and installed by you. If you dont use the shelves, like Garth said you need to cap the gas line. Good luck with your project and let us know how it turns out.

Same thing here, I did what Brian said and got the thermometer from weber, told them it was for my performer, but they would not sell me the ash catcher, found it on another site from ebay, now I have a OTS that looks like a OTG with a thermometer.

Love the colour, I think its avacado but may be lime. Difficult to say what its worth just going by picture, missing ash catcher and who knows what the bowl inside looks like, but if your a fanatic sounds like your mind is already made up.

Stefan, thats exactly what I do, and if you need any new cooking grates head to target. Even regular price kingsford at Lowes is still way lower than what we can find around here.
