    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

I will be looking as my work schedule allows. Even if I run out of time to paint, it would be helpful to do a dry run re-assembly after FIVE YEARS!!! Unfortunately, while the basic body is the same as yours and Eric's, the internals and controls are totally different. So, I will be relying on...

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

First I have to figure out where I buried the valve assemblies🫤! And the grates…and the burner knobs…

Please let me know if these work since I am in the same boat in trying to convert from NG to LP.

Eric, looks like you are accumulating some very cool “unicorns” that will give you plenty to do! :smilekettle:

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

Glad you pointed that out, Josh. It was the only one saw where the split hoses weren’t way too long. Maybe I can pair a regulator I already have with this instead: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0819YWVT8?tag=tvwb-20

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

Mine is so different because of the front controls and how far apart they are. Mine was also NG, so I am going to have to convert. The NG line fed into a splitter of metal tubing which was old and didn’t survive disassembly: I am planning on buying this braided LP split hose regulator to...

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

The originals, I believe, had you use empty cans from soup or vegetables!

Thanks, Larry! I was hoping you would confirm that.👍

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

I believe all you need is an LP regulator and LP sized orifices. I understand that the valves work for either.

That’s how mine came when I picked it up. Although the classic old parts have dried up, at least there are some ways to improvise.

Seeing Double: Taking on an antique Broilmaster D2 & lessons for Weber restores

So the disassembled, albeit sandblasted, “Double” I bought has sat for years in the shed I bought for the house we rent to my son and daughter-in-law. It has gathered dust there - out of sight (especially my wife’s😲) and out of mind. Coincidentally, with Josh and Eric both now getting their own...

    Broilmaster P4 pick-up, test run....

Oh wow, Josh, that is one incredible custom Broilmaster! They could only have dreamed of making one look that stunning. Very beautiful and functional, too. Your patience in laying out that design has been obviously well rewarded. Keep those steaks sizzling and someday try it on indirect😎.

Absolutely, Larry! They ARE nice, and it is a shame not many seem to notice. I just think that adding a little color would make them stand out. Maybe even just the control panel. One thing I like about my Vieluxe project is that even though it is all stainless, the design is just enough...

I will just leave this here

I definitely agree that the the classic Broilmaster's look has become way out of date and frumpy to many. Then try to get well north of a grand for their Made in USA build, and you can see why Broilmaster is not a major player. I would love, however, for someone like Tom Horsman to do a video...

I have a restored late 60s/early 70s PK Jr. that I would part with for way less than that!

That's an amazing selection of old grills. A few are very much classics. The 2nd Sunbeam is exactly like the one I have. I have never seen another on the online sales sites since then. You live in a grill rehabber paradise!

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

I did this years ago and still have it tucked in the back of my lawnmower barn. Need to get it out again! This was one of my favorite posts; the comments members here - especially our late friend Rich Dahl - were priceless to me...

    Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

I would agree that lava rocks are the original way to go. If you restore this mostly to be a "looker" then that seems appropriate. If you really want to use it, though, my vote would be either for the ceramic briquettes or the tiles with holes in them. I had good, albeit limited, experience...
