    Sometimes it's your turn...

Exterior looks great. Those are the right casters for the ranch, which also fits the SS Gen 1 performer. Based on the handles it’s an earlier version of the ranch but not too early so should have a hinged cooking grate but the smaller size hinge which is about the size of the standard Weber...

    [SoCal] Weber Kettle Ranch $750

Agreed. 750 is a little steep. I got mine for 375 and used once for a wedding rehearsal dinner which was just dumb luck. They come up from time to time around here but anything under 500 is pretty well used.

    [SoCal] Weber Kettle Ranch $750

Looks pretty clean. New version than mine since the cooking grate hinges make for a better opening for adding fuel. Seems a little high so it may sit a little bit. Might take 600??? we all need a ranch even if it doesn’t get used a lot. They are just that cool!

    Summit Charcoal discontinued?

What he said. ^^^ the Weber summit charcoal (Gen 1) was discontinued a few years back and then rebranded to the current version (Gen 2) with the name Kamado style. I got my Gen 1 in 2020 from an ace as a fire sale because they had been discontinued. Later in 2020 into 2021 Weber started...

    Sometimes it's your turn...

Wow that’s great. Hope it is decent condition for you. Speaking from a ranch owner I can tell you they are well built so unless it was crushed by a truck you should be able to make it functional with some elbow grease. Hopefully the grates are in usable shape since the cooking grate alone is 280...

Summit Kamado Double grill grate suggestions

Same here and I agree with @MichaelM would be nice if you could lock it down. I’d you are okay with only using as an offset the half moon warming rack for the 22” kettle works well and will hook over the handle to keep it more steady.

    I need a kettle, would you suggest 22” Master-Touch or 26”?

What he said ^^^ I have the 26 and a performer. Since adding the Weber Summit Charcoal the spiders use the 26 more than I do and the performer is now at my dads house.

    Back Pack leaf blowers

Interesting. Sthil is German owned and I thought Echo was a Japanese owned company. Surprised they merged.

    Back Pack leaf blowers

Same as Tim K. We have the stihl 420 at the ranch for at least 13 years now. Never misses a beat, is powerful and still starts on the first pull after the choke pull.

    Apricot wood suggestions

Hello all. Was fortunate enough to score a bunch of smoke woods from an old orchard we have on the ranch a few years ago. Peach, Apple, pecan, cherry, nectarine, plum (terrible) and Apricot. Apricot is the only one I haven’t tried. Curious if anyone has tried it and what meat it pairs best with...

22 WSM vinyl cover on 18?

When I added a hinge and handles to my 18 I ended up using the 22” WSM cover on it. It does hang down a little too low but it will cover it. The original cover may have fit with the hinge but the handles were added first so I never got a chance to try it.

    Charcoal grill size comparison chart

@Jan M. I could pull that same picture off as you with the exception of all things the 14” lol.

    Why vertical handles on smoker?

That’s the unknown hinge. It is expensive but is very handy... https://unknownbbq.com/

    Why vertical handles on smoker?

I did the same. Prefer horizontal, bent aluminum and added Weber handles.

Anyone use a smaller charcoal ring for WSM 22 for shorter cooks?

I have all three WSM sizes with the upgraded CB charcoal rings for the 22 and the 18. The 18” standard ring stays in the 22 most the time for shorter cooks with lots of meat. Mainly I use the 18” ring when cooking 8 or more tri-tips on the 22 where cook time is a little over an hour but I don’t...

Recent pick up o code outrider

Might try Weber customer service. The cooking grate is slightly different than the standard 18” kettle. I bought a replacement from them for my SJP about 7 years ago and it was 20 bucks plus 10 dollars shipping.
