Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works wonders on the thermoset tables. I ha e had much better luck with them over Simply Green, bleach, etc. cleans them right up.

Thank you, all. These will be used in my restore of a 2005 Genesis Platinum C (more details soon) which will likely last me 30 years due to the stainless steel frame. Therefore, it sounds like the heavier-duty rcplanebuyer grates are worth it.

Weber 7639 grates are SS rods and sell for $80. Has anyone compared them to the RCPlanebuyer grates?

I currently have a 2000 Genesis Silver B. A buddy of mine gave me the side burner off a Silver C, but not the manifold, so I need a Silver C manifold to use the side burner. Anyone have an extra they would be willing to sell? I don't want to pay for a new one (which is pushing $100). Thanks! Erik

I highly recommend the PCI grates. I had the original CI grates (without porcelain) on my Silver B and I just couldn't keep a good season on it -- it kept burning off. I haven't had any issues with the porcelain on my PCI grates despite several years of use.

I am restoring my 2000 Genesis Silver B. I noticed my manifold was once painted, but the top of it has a fair amount of surface rust. Should I clean it up and paint it with high temp paint, or leave well enough alone? I'm leaning towards the latter but thought I'd ask what others have done...

I'd personally get the Redhead and keep watching on here and Craigslist for the shelf. There are enough people buying two or three grills and making one out of them that someone should have an extra shelf around. If you take the time to fully restore that Redhead she'll be a beaut!

I second what Dean and Alejandro said -- just use them as-is. Even if you get the rust off they will corrode very quickly with use.

I wonder if the new lid catcher will fit on the prior models. I'd love to retrofit that to my 2014 Performer. I'd also be interested in the rubber tires.
