One Touch Platinum vs Performer

I would sell my WSM and my Q220 before I'd sell my Performer, if theres one grill I'd be happy with being the only grill I had...the Performer would be it. Cheers Davo

    Performer Fire Setup

You could place your baskets toward the outside and leave them empty and pour the charcoal in between them which will allow you to use the gas starter directly under the coals. This gives you a good workable direct heating area but also affords you some indirect space on the sides over the empty...

My first overnight smoke, lots of pressure, input requested.

Aaron, yeah I would start the shoulder a bit earlier to give you some time margin. Just wondering, will you be doing both the shoulder and the chuck on the top grate or the shoulder on the bottom? Will you be using water in the pan? Just wondering because I'm kinda learning myself. I've...

    copper 22

We don't get the copper ones down under either nowadays, they all seem to be black which is boring. In fact, I don't think I've seen any other color kettle in the Weber stores other than black now but years ago, you used to be able to get all different colours. My last OTS was a 2 toned bronze...

    sorry realization

George, sorry to hear that but I was thinking of your predicament and this might sound a bit silly but perhaps someone could cut down the legs a bit so it won't sit up so high...would you think this would make the kettle too unstable? you might only need an inch or two off the ends and new holes...

    One Touch Platinum vs Performer

Likewise, my Performer is now around 3 years old and have never had any problem with air leaks around the gas tube inside the kettle. I can make the kettle sit on 220F for hours and hours without a problem and the fire goes out ok and leaves me some good left over charcoal to use for the next...

    Sorry Weber

I could be wrong but I've always thought all kettles are black but some are enameled different colors over top.If that's the case, it probably wouldn't be too hard to get a car spray painter to give a bare kettle a couple of good coatings of high heat red engine enamel would it or just buy the...

Michael, you won't be sorry with your purchase of the cast iron grill for the kettle, I've had mine now for just over a Month now and I'm practically using them all the time now..they are that good. interesting issue

I have the Q220 with the cream colored lid and I also have found that the paint is easily stained and is hard to clean completly. When I had my little Q120, I often had to give it a quarterly thorough clean up and I used a high pressure cleaner and some of the paint at the back of the lid flaked...

What device to use for indirect cooking of say chicken?

It's best to buy yourself a trivet which looks like a cake rack but thicker. Place a doubled over sheet of foil on the grates leaving at least 1-2 inches all way round the edges from the sides of the grate, with a knife, make a series of slits in the foil between the grillbars so any fats and...

    Cleaning Q300 grate

I have the Q220 which is size below yours and yes, despite all the brushing and burning, theres always a lot of gunk hanging down under the grates....as long as the top of the grates where your food will be going is clean as possible after a good hot pre-heat and a brushing down before cooking...
