Any way to fix chipped porcelain hood?

Erik a friend of mine had the same issue. I cut a strip from an aluminum beverage can and wrapped it around each end and drilled the hole for the bolt to go through. snugged it up to his liking.

    Searing

I've heard it said that you cant achieve the proper sear without infa red sear stations, or special grates etc. but i have to say, my Genesis 1000 with the plain old porcelain coated steel grates, when set up in a 2 zone cook, can sear a heck of a steak. Better than any other gasser I've...

    Genesis 1 grate question

Weber as well as multiple aftermarket parts sources indicate the 7638 grates will fit the Genesis 1. I would post the Weber link here that confirms this, but I'm not sure about the rules of this site concerning commercial links. if you look up your grill in the Weber Site schematics section...

just about one year on a CL find and restoration. Never had a better Gas grill, used 3-4 times a week and shows almost NO wear!! Other box store grills I've had would be ready for a [at least] new set of bars (or plates) by now. I'm a true believer :) Thanks so much to all the members here that...

    First year with the 1000

After the first year since obtaining and restoring a genesis 1000; Gotta say this has been a heck of a grill so far. Genesis 1000 Dimensions

^^^^^^ +1 on that Rich. I like my Kettle, when I can relax and have the time, Its a ritual and produces some of the best grilled fare there is; but screaming in at the end of the day with little time and a big hunger, that gasser can be ready for steaks, chops or burgers in 10-12 mins @ about...

First look at refurbing an older fella

Wally, I think all you need to paint is the outside of the firebox, the outside of the hood end caps, and the frame. I used flat for the fire box and gloss for the frame and hood ends.
