    Butt help

I'm planning on serving at 1/2 time....around 8:00. I'm going to put them on at 6:00 instead and use the ramp mode on the guru. I have a party to be at tonight and I have to leave at 7:00 and won't be home until 11:00. Ramp mode should do the trick. Thanks for the help.

    Be nice to your WSM

Hey Bob, I have a shed in my back yard that has a little porch. Mine looked similar to that but the snow didn't really pile up around it like that. If you dig around it a little, it makes a nice wind screen.

How do I get smokey flavor in my Chile?

I just did this Tuesday night. Last weekend I smoked 2 chuck roasts 3 3/4 lbs. each. I froze one and chopped the other and substituted it for the meat in my chili. It had a delicious smoky taste, not to strong, not to lite. Still have a bit left for dinner tonight.

    Cleaning The WSM

To clean the grates, Lite your gasser, put the grates one on top of the other, cover over the top with aluminum foil, close the gasser cover and let it rip for 20 mins. or so. When they come off, a quick wipe with a wire brush and they look like they came out of a self cleaning oven.

    Cleaning The WSM

Matt, I just cleaned mine (the inside) on Sunday. It was at the point where the top lid had the flakey stuff falling off of it. I disassembled, washed with soap and water and a brillo pad, rinsed, let air dry and reassmbled. All in all it took about 1/2 hour.

What part of the top vent crumbled in your hands, the wheel part or the rivet that holds it. Was the door fused with grease? The inards that rusted, were they the screws and grates that are only metal and can rust away? I've never seen aluminum corode and crumble as fast as you say and would...

    Wood Pellets vs Wood chunks

Bill, there definitely is a difference in taste, which would explain all of the different pellet flavors. I used the samples that I had recieved and found they don't have as strong of a smoke flavor as wood chunks. You could probably add more pellets or additional packets buried in the coals as...

    Cooking w/pellets. Quick (SOS) question.

Hey Rob, When I want the high temps with the guru, I open a bottom vent or two and let the guru have a little easier time in maintaining the higher temp. I also only have the 4 cfm fan but have no problems with it. Glad all turned out well.

    Cooking w/pellets. Quick (SOS) question.

Hey Rob, How did the cook go with the 2 foil packets buried in the coals. I'm afraid to do that, with all of that foil it may be hard to mantain the fire. I'd think it might be cooking a little cool. Just my $0.02.
