    i feel so much better

Even better - I ain't got no FB, Ittertwae, or Yspacemae page. If I ever get to feeling ambitious - I would create a Website / Blog based on biting criticism (but funny) of stuff that I feel needs it. The site would be "Stuff Ron doesn't give a *&#! about" Near the top would be all things...

    Tri-Tip Jerky once again

Yup! Looks really tasty! I was expecting a thread about someone attempting to cook some Tri's and ending-up with dried-out, tough failures = bad, unintended "jerky". (I would lay pretty good odds on that having happened at least several times around this forum, not that anyone would fess-up to...

Going In Big and Blind!- THE PIX

Actually - now that I see you're from Texas: Isn't that rig actually the equivalent of a "Jumbo-Joe"? If it was "TEXAS-Serious" - shouldn't you need a Peterbuilt to pull it, and burn WHOLE TREES instead of just logs? (Said very tongue-in-cheek, of course...) Thanks again for sharing with us

    Brats and Kraut!

I gotta' try making some up from scratch one of these days. I think that Mom has Great-Grandma's Kraut Slicer (almost EVERY "respectable" Germanic home in Wisconsin had one) maybe I can did it up. It's like a "hillbilly" wooden mandoline slicer built to the width of a large cabbage head with a...

Going In Big and Blind!- THE PIX

Yup - I read the earlier thread and was excited to find out how things went. I like your team's "fearlessness" - not too many would go for broke on a setup like that without a good practice run or two. That Brisket looks REALLY good Did you find that a BIG smoker like that creates different...

    $3.99 New Yorks (bone in)

Yep - It's ALWAYS (unless you're one of those V-people) a good day when you can eat KC or NY Strip for the price of Hamburger! I thought that I had a good deal when our neighborhood grocer had Boneless NY Strip for $6.99/lb Like you, I saw those and that little voice said "Guess what's for...

S-330 vs Q3200- single guy asking for advice

Yup - I'll "Second" what LMichaels said above: If I was young and single, and wanted a PORTABLE grill to take to the park / parties / Ball Games etc - I would buy a Q-Series (one of the mid-level ones) But as a Home or Condo Owner, if it is going to remain STATIONARY for "Everyday" cooking - a...

    Curse Of The Goat?

I have a FEELING that "BBQ Goat" is going to become the new Delicacy on the North Side of Chi-Town...(then again, maybe better not tempt fate for ANOTHER 108 years...)

    Curse Of The Goat?

Not really a Cubbies fan - but that last game was FITTING for a World Series Final that was over 100 years in the making. But you gotta' admit - when the Cubs' hitting gets HOT; it doesn't really matter who the opposition puts on the mound, DANG! Maybe the Brewers will acquire some mojo...

    Cocktail Sauce

I'm amazed at how different "Cocktail Sauce" can be from one part of the country to another. I've tried some with the AMAZING fresh Gulf Shrimp one can get in the Redneck Riviera - but the sauce was usually disappointing. Around here - we just crack a bottle of Hoffman House (every once in a...

Breitling Air Show Hunting Beach last weekend

Not to hijack the thread - but here's yet another link about Mr. Hoover. http://www.airspacemag.com/history-of-flight/simply-the-best-10490510/?no-ist I had the pleasure of seeing him fly a few times at Oshkosh. I believe that Chuck Yeager once aptly described him as "one of the greatest...

    Favorite Halloween movies?

The "Candyman" series STILL gives me the willies... Niece saw it at a sleep-over when she was a bit too young for that - traumatized her for a few years I like some of the Abbott & Costello / 3 Stooges horror spoofs for some creepy humor

    Buyer's Remorse.

Hey -at least it's just about a batch of rub: On this website - such comments could be for somebody who spent hundreds on the wrong Smoker or Grill. (I wonder if anyone on here has ever had their SO leave them over that 7th Weber, or something like that, that they bought...?)

    ThermoWorks Smoke Review

Thanks much for the update Chris Also - For those with the Maverick, don't you need to buy a 2nd Single-Channel Probe Transmitter if you want to use the Dual-Channel Receiver? (Or have they developed a dual transmitter / does the display "switch" between the two probes?) That may need to...

Okay I'm sold! Going to make a 26" Performer

That is REALLY beautiful! Love the stain color I have used some stuff from General Finishes and I find their products AWESOME when applied properly If you've never used their stuff and do any sort of re-finishing - try it and you probably won't go back to anything else A 26-inch Performer is...

Pork Butts - To foil or not to foil

I would stick with the No Foil - I've done LOTS of them, and never really had a problem Is the meat actually getting dry or is it crisp around the edges from rendered fat getting too hot and "deep-frying" outer portions? (I sometimes get this happening if I try putting too many big sucka's on...

    I like new stuff.

I guess I KNOW what I'll be adding to my Christmas List for this year! I've been wanting to go to a simple Dual-Channel setup, so that I can monitor my chamber temperature on those overnight cooks. (I have a "cheapo", basic Maverick Single-Channel that has been working pretty good - but I'm due...
