    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

Duh- I didn’t realize you guys were talking about a $200 listing in the curb alert thread Here are my thoughts on both listings: No one lists whether LP or NG Both thermometers are obviously more “off” than mine showing ambient at about 2 o’clock (mine shows 5 o’clock and is 150f low) Both 6...

So I drove an electric car

I get it - both Priuses drove exactly like regular Toyotas whether in hybrid or EV mode and had similar “compression braking” feel when off pedal. The controls were laid out more or less the same on the steering wheel as Toyota and Lexus (I also own a 2000 Lexus Lx470) The point I was trying...

So I drove an electric car

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Toyota’s stance on BEV, but they have been fighting the push towards all electric and lobbied extensively against the federal push/quotas. They resisted not because they are dominant in hybrids, but because they truly believed that an abrupt shift to BEVs...

    Vieluxe 44 Restoration

So I really never liked the look of the oem igniter switches and decided to retrofit a lower profile switch. The switch fits and I have to swap the electronics module - perhaps even the electrodes if I can figure out some mounting solution. Here is what I got (only $12): Limited-time deal...

Bay Area kitchen/restaurant supply store recommendations

There is a Business Costco in Hayward (closest to Danville) - the selection is much less than they used to carry, but if they have it, you will not find it cheaper anywhere Another advantage of Business Costco is that they have real-time inventory of that location. Prices are listed as...

    Full chicken wings

Brett - is that sear grate the Weber porcelain coated model? How do you keep it from rusting other than leaving the grease buildup? I might have switched to the original SS insert since searing was not really needed with wings…

One burner won't stay lit on LOW. Genesis 1000XL

Check the valve ports again I had similar problem after cleaning and lubricating my valves but couldn’t see obstruction - finally cleared by rodding the port with welding tip cleaner

Help with replacement S.S. grates and flavorizer bars

Well, I’m still running with the original Weber flavorizer bars on my OG Summit 450 - and I’ve gone through about 3 sets of burners over those 20ish years The Weber bars are 18ga and noticeably lighter than Dave Santana’s bars @16ga that he fabricated for my Vieluxe I think the difference is...

    Smoking on the Gasser

I smoked pork chops on the Vieluxe for a couple hours around 120-150f using only the smoker burner then increased temp with a main burner until internal temp got over 140f Then seared on wsk with vortex clone - lots of smoke flavor (sorry forgot to take additional pics of finished product)

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

By the time thighs hit 160f the breasts were already over 180 They finished much darker than the pic shown but I was unable to get a good shot because it was after sunset Both birds weighed 8lb total - I didn’t recall how much each weighed though - it was a two pack I used Turbo Trusser - I...

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

The breast got up to temp faster than thighs with the IR burner on and outside burners on low. Next time I’ll try butt to butt to try to even out the heating. Also, I only marinated for 5 hr and the flavor didn’t penetrate well. I assumed the sauce with egg would stick better during basting...

    2 rotisserie chickens on Vieluxe

Ok - so I’m going to try spinning 2 whole Cornell chickens on the vieluxe Any recommendations on setup? I was thinking smoker burner with oak chunks on low (far left) - far right main burner on low - rotisserie IR on low I guess it would be most similar to a Summit S470 as far as layout and I...

Anyone tried this on a rotisserie? Or take a guess at how it would turn out?

    Thermoworks Big Reveal Tomorrow

Seems like they are using capacitors rather than regular rechargeable batteries. Fast recharge capable but will probably self discharge quickly when not in use. Not a big deal in this case since it only needs 10min charge for up to 50hr use. Hopefully they use standard wall warts or...

Summit Platinum D6 burner orifice size.

https://virtualwebergasgrill.com/2017/05/cleaning-lubricating-weber-gas-grill-valves/ I used caliper lube recently on my Vieluxe but just pulled apart a Summit valve that was still buttery smooth - don’t remember what I used at the time but was totally clear - probably Sil-Glide or similar...

    This Old (New?) Grill

How about using Sanyo Eneloop AA NiMH batteries with an AA to C adapter? They are low self discharge (LSD) and have about 2000mah capacity - should be plenty with LED bulbs Also much easier to find a charger for NiMH than lithium
