    Cheesesteaks

Very nice, Brett...and thank you for NOT adding green peppers! It seems like most of the country thinks peppers are mandatory for a cheesesteak, but a lifelong Philadelphian has assured me that they're not. Good choice on the provolone, too.

    Old Phone

I was living in Bolingbrook when I had the 312 number. I moved to Hillside in late '86 and might've had a 708 number, but can't remember for sure. When I started dating my now-wife in '88 she lived in LaGrange Park and was in the 708 area. In fact, I still remember her number from back then.

Does anyone care about today's game?

Remember those old Folgers Crystals commercials? "We've secretly replaced the Chiefs' offensive line with the Bears'. Let's see if anyone notices.";)

White Noise - Sound Machine - Sleep Sound Device

I usually pick up my pillow, fluff it about a bit, poise it right above her face, and think...."Maybe next time." Just like she does. ;)

    Old Phone

When I entered Grown-Up World in 1985 my first apartment didn't come with a phone. I wound up buying a black desktop model for $12 (somehow that amount sticks with me yet today) and even though it hasn't been used for years, it's still on a shelf in the basement. I was going to hit Send but...

Seems like folks could step up a bit more...have you thought of offering a set of Amazing Ginsu Knives as an incentive?;)

    JIGSAW PUZZLES

Joan, I'm glad that you and your husband are doing puzzles online but I hope that you're also able to still do them the old way. There's nothing like rummaging through the pieces until the right one's found, and vice-versa. When my dad was in the early stages of dementia my mom pretty much...

    They're not "refs", they're officials!

And because "drone" is a spot-on example of onomatopoeia. ;)

    They're not "refs", they're officials!

<RANT> I'm about ready to strangle the next person who calls NFL/football game officials "refs". "Ref" is short for "referee", and there is *ONE* referee on the field. Period. Read here: https://operations.nfl.com/officiating/the-officials/officials-responsibilities-positions/ Want to...

Kiss going back into the studio!

Apparently they're going to rework one of their big hits from the '70s...it's going to be called "Detroit Choke City"! And that's the truth...I'm not Lion!

Wisconsin > Ft. Atkinson: Fort 88 Smokehouse

Fort 88 Smokehouse in Fort Atkinson has been around since 2017 but it took me until last month to finally get there, when my wife and I stopped in for lunch on a dreary Sunday. We only live about 30 minutes from Fort (as the locals call it) so I can't claim distance as the reason it took me so...

    Mr. Baseball.

Last year (or maybe it was 2023) the Brewers had a "Major League" theme night and my wife and I just happened to be there. During 1 or 2 of the inning changes, the scoreboard put up a "Who Said It: Bob Uecker or Harry Doyle?" quiz. It was some good stuff.:ROFLMAO:

    Mr. Baseball.

Just the tip of the iceberg: https://www.mlb.com/news/bob-uecker-favorite-stories-memories?t=brewers-history-trivia Back in the early '90s I was in a bowling league, and one of the guys told a story that he swore was true. He was visiting family and was hanging out in the back yard with his...

    Mr. Baseball.

Bob told his best stories during rain delays, when he didn't have to interrupt them to do play-by-play. Opening Day's going to be really, really tough.

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

Move the car and the smoker, and clear the driveway. Somebody might want to shoot a few buckets!

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

Definitely summer. There's a far less likely chance I'll be arrested for putting clothes on instead of taking them off.

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

Drink faster. ;) I'm a four season cook but not a bad weather cook. My gear is sheltered but the walk from and to the house is no fun when it's raining or there's a nasty wind chill.
