    Genesis Platinum 1000 Restoration

I like it, too, Alex! You are well on your way now :coolkettle: .

    Curb Alert !!!

With the end pieces and knobs changed to black and a nice restoration, that would be a really nice grill.

    Curb Alert !!!

I would say those are 6" kettle wheels where the inserts have crumbled and been removed. If so, that's a nice price, but the only source I know of for 6" 3D inserts charges almost as much as you can get new wheels for.

Genesis Silver A grease pan source

Samuel has a good point as there aren't many Silver A restore threads. Even if most of the pics are the finished grill, those and some discussion of the obstacles and pros and cons would be a cool addition if you have time.

I will just leave this here

I like that plan, Josh! I know with your workmanship, the "transplant" will look like new. LP is almost always easier to sell than NG. Since you can't make a complete 2nd one, I think parting out and keeping the good stuff is a smart option. There will be more down the road that will need...

I will just leave this here

The stainless one looks brand new. I imagine it would be a very easy sale. I like the way black looks better myself. A keeper?

Genesis Silver A grease pan source

Cody, if you mean a Silver A aluminum drip tray, be sure it is one that you can afford to scrap. They are very thin. I have seen ones full of perforations just from hot grease.

Genesis Silver A grease pan source

That's the classy porcelain upgrade version from the stock aluminum on at least most Silver A grills. Very nice for a keeper, but pricey for a harder to sell Silver A.

Rust flecks on new genesis II side table

Hi Ken, If you could post a couple pictures, that might help diagnose. I would have to say that the grade of stainless used by Weber on most shelves (probably 430) is not immune to rust. If you are the original owner, you might see where you stand on Weber's warranty, but if that is a Genesis...

I will just leave this here

Yes, they are interchangeable, except that at least some of the early "sidewinders" had the magnets on the door rather than on the bottom. If going stainless, that wouldn't work since real stainless has little to no magnetic attraction. So, if this were to be pursued, the original bottom loaned...

I will just leave this here

Cody, I finally found the prices from 2 years ago, so you would have to assume higher. For a run of 24 pieces of one kind, with the engineering fee it worked out to about $70 per panel. The price for the bottoms was just a little higher than the backs. Obviously, the bottoms are what is...

I will just leave this here

Cody, I had a place local to me who was willing to make a run of bottoms and backs out of stainless steel, but it would take several if us to go in on buying a quantity that would get the price down to realistic. When I was in Florida, I had a friend and client who owned a sheet metal shop. He...

    Weber Genesis re-restoration advice welcomed!

Welcome, Kelly! Glad to have you here on TVWBB:coolkettle:. I would have to agree with the others. Good thing for you is that you are in a larger metro area, so I think you will find what you need with just a little searching on FBM and even Craigslist. We will all be happy to help along the...

    Searwood - Yea or Nay?

I enjoy Tom's reviews and do believe he gives his honest opinions, not like some of the "infomercial" reviews I have seen some others do. I agree about opening the grill too much. You just cannot do that with a pellet grill, although his charts show pretty good recovery times overall. Even...

New to me Memphis Advantage Plus Pellet Grill/Smoker

I have been fortunate to never have had temp problems with my Recteq wrapping with aluminum foil, but I admit it is debatable whether the foil helps save time. Recteq used to have a video showing you how "easy" it is to wrap the deflector on my exact model. I have found the pre-made disposable...

New to me Memphis Advantage Plus Pellet Grill/Smoker

I don't think you need to be overly concerned about the deflector, although you could use wide, heavy duty aluminum foil to line it. There are also disposable aluminum trays, but the ones I have seen are made for straight deflectors. Not sure if you could just bend them in the middle. I have...

    Something STINKY

What a shame, Larry. Glad Sam's will stand by it. I think your hypothesis makes a lot of sense.

Bringing New Life to an Old "Platypus"

Josh, I just absolutely cannot believe the difference between your buy vs. sell opportunities! You regularly post free or almost free grills that would go for $150 and more most anywhere else. Then, thanks to your craftsmanship, there seems to be a ready, well-healed market to buy your restored...
