I really like my Squat. I did a 2nd cook last night with burgers. These Jumbo Joes are very effecient because the coals are still blazing when I"m done. I'm def adding too much charcoal. I checked this morning and there are still a lot of coals left over. I'll knock off the gray and resuse them...
Have you done any cooks on it yet? 4 day weekend coming up, eh-ehhh? Is the guy you worked with RCPlanebuyer (did I spell that right?) ? I live a few cities from him and would love to meet with him to see about making 18.5" grills for my Squat (Jumbo Joe), hoping the price isn't too high. He...
Woohoo! Thanks for all the help DaveW on posting my pix. I went ahead and updated the original post (OP). Now I'll remember to look for the direct .jpg link, not the link to the Flickr page. I'm not in charge of the turkey this week, but I'm taking my Squat Jumbo Joe to my inlaws for tri tip and...
Hmmmm... I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how post pictures using Flickr. I tried a few ways:
1. [img]https://www.flickr.com/photos/37166068@N00/15840541631[/ img] put space after / to show what I put
2. used insert link in the posting tools above...
Searched on CL for a while (visited quite a few Targets in the San Jose area) looking for a new model of the Jumbo Joe. Thanks to this site I am totally sold on the size, weight, portability and function of the Jumbo. I'm calling mine "Squat" because he's very short and wide.
I finally found...
Hi Rich, do you own these? How do you rate them over 2 forks? When I pull my pork (add snicker here ;) ) I use 2 serving forks. It looks like the grip on these are much more ergonomic.
Anyone have thoughts on special tools for pulling?
Does anyone know of other uses for these?
Hi Michael, no wood handles for the Q, yet. I bet if we ask, this guy could make them. The ones he made for the other Webers look great! I like that he can add engravings.

San Francisco/San Jose area, usually $8-10/lb. I usually buy 2-4 when they go on sale for $5.99/lb. trimmed. I don't like buying untrimmed because there was so much fat to trim myself and I'm paying for that fat.
Before the big day, are you planning on doing a test bird? I would give it a try on maybe a small turkey so you can see what works. Turkey on Thanksgiving is the center piece, don't want to fudge it up.
I see you used the Ikea Ordning for the basket. What did you use to make the handle?
Did you cut out the bottom?
When you load it, do you just stuff the paper on the bottom and the coals on top?
How many coals can it hold?
Looks great! Have any update on cooks with this mod? I'm wondering if the lid being taller than a jumbo joe would make a difference.
I'm trying to see which is better: a WSM on CL or a Jumbo Joe and mod it to a WSM ?
Great looking burgers!
I want to ask, what camera and setup did you use to take your grill and finished pictures? The detail and warm colors of your grill pictures are awesome.
Along with upping my bbq/smoke/grill skills I want to post excellent photos of my cook.

I hope someone on this forum buys this. What a steal at $50! Just a little cleaning because these Qs are built like a tank. A Q320 won't fit my needs right now, but maybe someday.
On Sunday after church I took a trip to 2 Targets in my area (San Jose, Ca) The bigger Target had Christmas stuff along with their Halloween stuff, but had some summer stuff in an end cap. Really? Christmas stuff already? I know of 2 Targets I want to try this week. The hardware stores here...
