    1987 Genesis II Redhead

I'm not taking it wrong, I'm saying you're wrong. I do believe you that you haven't seen them. But just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it never existed. The slats are indeed original from Weber. There is an 1987 Weber advertisement showing them (I will soon have a copy), and here is...

    1987 Genesis II Redhead

Thanks Bruce and Jon! I'm excited to own it. I'm going to have to disagree with you there LMichaels. Unless you consider the creators of the Weber Genesis - Erich Schlosser, Mike Kempster, and Jim Stephen, Jerry-riggers. Look closely at the pic used for the story about the birth of Weber gas...

    1987 Genesis II Redhead

With the help of a longtime Grillfella I was pointed to a Weber redhead with wide wood slats, which he told me indicated a first generation for Weber. I had zero prior interest in a gas grill but when I heard this was probably Weber's entry into gas grills I got real interested. The grill was at...

    My redhead rehab

Great job! It's really cool to take something old that many would give up on, seeing the great possibilities in it, and making it better than new. Well done.

    Another redhead Genny 1000 restoration....kinda

I hate to be a PITA but can someone point me towards a comparison of the HHUltra and the HHMatte? I'm going to be at that point this Friday on mine and it would be great to see the difference on a firebox. And Bill yours looks really nice. I like the refinished wood color.

    Two-tone Blue WSM for Trade

I have the porcelain 2 tone Blue WSM that Chris Allingham created back in 2004. You can see current pics and read about it’s history on my website. It probably has between 10-15 cooks on it. I used it twice in competitions in GA. I am looking to trade it for one or more old kettles, depending on...

    Does this look familiar?

Chris did a great job with the build and vision of this smoker for sure. I too would like to see the red, and see how the powder coating has held up.

    Does this look familiar?

I have this WSM :) She's 13 years old now and still looking pretty good. She's been with me, my special ed kids where I teach, on a competition in GA, with a Boy Scout troop for a number of years, and now back with me again. I am cleaning her up for the next adventures with someone new, yet to...

    Thoughts on Yoder Smoker

I had the Cimarron that I used in contests. It was a very good cooker. I personally don't care for the company management/ownership. **Edit/correction - mine was the Kingman

    Zinc mounting screws available local?

Does anyone know if the 1/4-20 x .625(5/8) zinc screws that hold on the legs on the older wsm's are a common size that Lowe's or HD would carry? Of course mine are rusted/corroded in a bad way.

New guy in Tampa - any local butcher recommendations?

There is a place in the Tampa area called Master Purveyors or something similar. A place in Plant City called Felton's is good. Here in Winter Haven I swear by Mac's Meats, great family owned and run place. Welcome!

How many of you have added a 2nd lid vent?

I'm not sure what their dampers are like, but I just ordered 3 genuine replacements directly from Weber and they were only $10 and change. Hard to beat that.

    Hello Again...

Thanks Tony. Here's Chris's article on it. http://virtualweberbullet.com/twotonebluebullet.html

    Hello Again...

I first joined back in 2003 when I first got heavy into bbq. I've had several WSMs over the years and used to compete on them. I'd been without a WSM for about 5 years but just recently rescued the 2 tone blue WSM that Chris made and am working on bringing it back to life. I've always enjoyed...

    Take a break from competing?

Take a little time off from competing Russ. If it's not fun don't do it. Get refreshed with your home projects and before you know it you'll be looking at the contest schedule again.

    Steamship Round

Yeah, it probably would. But this one is bigger than average. Here's a picture of 18 butts (~150lbs) on it, with room to spare. I'll just slide out some racks as needed. I'm cooking this for my work's Christmas party, and it was the bosses request.
