    Temp Gauge

I don't know of a replacement, but have you taken it off and tested it since it "seems" to be off? Remember, hood vs. grate temps are different.

    ~Hinged Door for WSM~

I used the gasket set from www.bbqgaskets.com for my 18.5" and it seals everything great! I believe it's a Nomex gasket. You can check it out and compare.

    PartyQ ATC for 18.5" WSM?

David, do you have the older model or the new? (Guess it shouldn't make a difference though.). I thought about the mod (maybe down the road) but for now, I don't want to run a power cord. I may be moving within the next year and depending on the new patio setup, maybe a power cord won't be as...

The door gaps are "designed that way" - I had to share this

Dan, if in fact you do have air entering your WSM, then it may "smolder" until all fuel is burned. If there is an issue with your vents, you can get a 3 piece replacement set off eBay for around $13. Check your door for leaks also and maybe use a gasket on it. Also, what was the temp when you...

    PartyQ ATC for 18.5" WSM?

I've been reading up on this and for my personal use, I like the battery operation. Would definitely use rechargeable batteries. While I do like tinkering with my set up, using the PartyQ would allow me to replace my grill probe with a second meat probe on my Ivation wireless. Just can't...

Add Me to the Caster Club

I used 3" but, mine stays on the patio. At the time, I figured 4" was overkill, but then again........:p

Lid hinge placement on a 18.5" WSM

No problems with the gasket. Just having it on reveals how "out-of-round" either the lid or the mid-section actually is. I mean, it's not drastic, but definitely noticeable. I can tell the gasket will definitely give a much better seal. Same with the door gasket.

Lid hinge placement on a 18.5" WSM

As I just stated, once done I can't go back! I hear ya on the age (59 here) and I had a microdisectomy 3 years ago (which is why I knew Tiger tried to come back too fast). I do enjoy my golf though! Back to WSM, I was going to install this evening, but will most likely wait until...

Lid hinge placement on a 18.5" WSM

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but with the hinge to the left (which is what I'm thinking of doing) the handle would be "in line" with the hinge movement, not 90*, correct? I will be using a wireless temperature probe, but also have a thermapen, so that is a good thought. Especially if cooking...

HH Method - Trouble maintaining temp

I'm a newbie myself, but the first thing I would do is remove the water pan completely and use a clay saucer "wrapped" or a pizza tin "wrapped" in its place. This would allow better airflow and still provide shielding.

Lid hinge placement on a 18.5" WSM

For those of you who have already installed a lid hinge on a 18.5" WSM, would you recommend that it go in the back or on the side? Since the 18.5" only has the top handle, I was wondering if the leverage to open "and" close the lid due to handle orientation would be easier with either...

Tell me I did good : Brand new Virgin WSM 18.5

Got the gasket and hinge set myself. Put gaskets on today and letting it set overnight before I do the hinge. Oh, and yesterday, put my casters on! Really like them!!! :wsm: 4 probes??? That's serious!!!

Okay, gotcha. I measured and 14.5"-15.5" would work perfect, however, if 15.75 is all they have..... Hey, maybe I'll get two and try to "work" one to size, lol. However, I doubt I would need two racks very often and like you said, still have the water pan!

Bob B. - You are just down the 91 from me. I'm in the Orangecrest neighborhood 5 min. from General Old golf course. (Which of course means that if I ever have major issues  ) Mark B. - Do you wrap the clay saucer? Did you locate it in the garden section?

Thanks Bob! :) I will try to remember to get some pics out after mod completion. Also: just checked my Weber dome thermometer (had forgotten that since I wasn't planning on using it) and it hit right at 212*/213* in boiling water. I'll have to test it again after a few more cooks and see...

Well, got my 18.5" WSM :wsm: the last week of June. So far have smoked pork ribs and then a combination of brisket, beef ribs and pork ribs this 4th of July weekend (that was fun, lol). Everyone loved them and it was so much easier than using my charcoal grill and offsetting. Got an...
