9.5MM Grill Grates for Weber Spirit 300

<scratches head> I don't get the attraction of the triangular cross section, nor the sand blasted finish. I made SS304 3/8" round stock grates (about 9.5 mm) and love the death out of them. I have a set of 1/4" (6.3 mm) grates ready to go down to Chicago for a friends grill. I don't think...

    Stay cool everyone.

I can always put more clothes on, there's a limit to what I can take off. Then people just laugh and point a lot. It's 88 degrees F and 65% relative humidity here right now. I haven't looked at the grass since I got up, but this would be a good day in Dad's opinion to make hay. Me, it's just...

    Chamber Vac Sealers

In theory, yeah. What really happens is when the vacuum is released, atmospheric pressure tries to stuff the marinade into the meat. My roll sealer has an accessory port and a couple of rigid chambers. Drop meat in the chamber with the marinade, put the lid on, connect the vacuum hose and...

    Bourbon Day 6/14/25

IIRC, it depends on state...... and for human consumption, you still need to pay the stamp tax, along with all of the paperwork. Now, small engine fuel...... There are a lot of the small home all-electric breweries that have distillation caps available. YMMV.

    Knife sharpener

Good on ya, for teaching this. A couple of years ago, I hauled my smoker on a 1,200 mile round trip for 2 cooks of 70 people each. The smoker ran for nearly 48 hours straight. My grand nephew (brother's son's son,) of about 10-11 years old politely asked if there was anything that he could do...

    BBQ battle.

The restaurant is fearing a "dilution" (I think that's the proper legal term) of it's mark, in that they are a barbecue restaurant that very specifically is not using pellet grills such as Weber's product. The audience on this website is clearly aware of the difference, but we're not the issue...

    BBQ battle.

Unfortunately, case law indicates that the trademark holder (the Smoque restaurant in this case,) does have to [aggressively] protect it's trademarks. Additionally, the courts have held that the trademark holder generally cannot decide that it is or is not infringing, if there's the possibility...

    Knife sharpener

A micro version, yeah, I could see that. The bench sander has an utterly gigantic selection of belts to choose from, and depending on exactly what sander you get, belt speed also becomes variable. Slower belt, more control.

    Knife sharpener

Just due to mechanics, I don't see grinding both sides of an edge as a possibility. You'd need a grinding surface that terminates absolutely perfectly at the point. If you do decide to send yours out for sharpening, talk to your local butchers and see what they do. Some butchers are picky...

    Knife sharpener

In all fairness....... demonstrably, while I may not be the greatest sharpener in the world, I can hold my own. I really do like the edge I can get from a belt sharpener, and I'd love a bench sander like @AndyK suggests. Dad asked me for some help with a 3-4" wide wood chisel where he'd...

    Knife sharpener

I have 2 different Chef's Choice sharpeners..... as far as I'm concerned, I was left with a duller knife than what I started with. I just cannot stand that tri-beveled edge, it just seems flat to me. A few years back, a buddy of mine was over, helping me prep food for a back yard party. I...

    Home built stainless grates

And bringing this back around again on the guitar.... (with apologies to Arlo Guthrie.....) I am apparently an idiot, but a bit of a trainable idiot. My TIG welder got set up for DC electrode positive, which just generally ain't right for most steel welding. I finally flipped the polarity...

    Knife sharpener

I have a WorkSharp hand belt sharpener. It's dead easy to use,I can put an edge on a bowling ball with it. My brother even bought one to keep his orchard pruners sharp.

    Another one, RIP Brian Wilson!

We had a long time remote friend (great guy, but a stubborn cuss) who passed from an oddball infection a year ago. Services were limited to close family, his celebration of life was a good party.

    Stainless Steel Grate Choice

That's getting closer to reasonable. I've managed to find a new steel supplier here. I'm in the middle of building up a triple set of grates that are each almost the dimensions of a 9930. 3 of them will use up around $50 in steel, plus my time & consumables. Now that I have the jigs (1/4"...

    Induction Ranges

It's on my list of things to accomplish here, to vent the microwave hood to the outside. I have this fear of drilling a big honkin' hole in my house..... Those are nice burners. 100k BTUs? I'm brewing with an Anvil Foundry all grain electric brewery. Condensation has not been a problem for...
