New to me Memphis Advantage Plus Pellet Grill/Smoker

FWIW, I have a Yoder 24"x48" charcoal grill, 5+ years old now. With my high heat grilling, even stove paint takes a beating, but it does seem to be holding up well. It does have a design flaw that I'm still chasing that leads to the ash drawer filling up with water after a rainstorm. Even...

Running A Smokefire EX4 on an Anker Portable Power Station 1056Wh

I have a device called a Kill-A-Watt that measures voltage, amps, watts and a couple of other values. It's pretty handy for checking things like this.

9mm SS304 grates for 24$ - too good to be true?

I think the price has dropped for "Prime Days." I only buy steel in relatively small quantities, but I'd be paying almost twice that just for the round stock, not counting time or consumables.

    Home built stainless grates

Couple of shots from the latest grate project. 1/4" round stock w/ 1/2" gaps. Delivered last weekend, and the recipient was quite pleased with how they cooked.

9mm SS304 grates for 24$ - too good to be true?

$24 for those is an awfully good price, even at 7mm/1/4". Let us know how they cook.

Heatermeter WIFI connection fails after some time

First thought would be that the WiFi adapter is on it's way out. Try a different one, or hard wire it to a bridged WiFi access point. When you can't access the webpages, does it respond to pings? Can you SSH into it?

To smoke, or not to smoke, is that a question for dry aged meats?

There is a fair degree of appropriate knowledge & control required. Dry aging does take specific temp and humidity control. My g/f's family asked me 20 years ago if I'd roast a prime rib for Christmas dinner. My g/f thought that I was crazy, aging it in the lower back of the refrigerator for...

Weber Blackstone sign exclusivity deal with Ace Hardware

Story time.... When I was living in the Chicago area, I needed the aforementioned 1/8" NPT internal tap. I walked into the local ACE, and went into the tools aisles. "Can I help you find something?" from a very young gent in a blue vest. "1/8" NPT internal tap." I could hear his eyeballs...

Weber Blackstone sign exclusivity deal with Ace Hardware

Small businesses of all sorts, not just hardware stores, have been closing everywhere. They're having a very hard time competing with the big box stores and online outlets. I do try to buy locally as much as possible (I have 2 hardware stores within 2 miles, used to have 3,) the closest box...

Weber Blackstone sign exclusivity deal with Ace Hardware

Aren't ACE hardware outlets individually owned? Don't think it's quite a franchise operation, but a co-op (based in La Crosse, WI, I think.) The local ACE here in town is pretty reasonably stocked, and this summer, the owner has made a decision to carry a larger selection of charcoal. I...

https://maps.app.goo.gl/acRSHMPjEEzkM2Ue6 Big Guy's BBQ Roadhouse 1237 WI-35 Hudson, WI 54016 https://bigguysbbqroadhouse.com/ A buddy of mine suggest Big Guy's for lunch today, in spite of him having eaten more than a little of my own barbecue and knowing my standards. Worth a shot. He...

    Home built stainless grates

Open ended question time. First, a few caveats. I can only get SAE/Imperial sized stock, i.e. 1/4", 3/8", etc., and in 304 grade. That'd be 6.35mm and 9.525mm. I am very much a self-taught welder, always improving. I'm set up for MIG and TIG process, far better with a MIG gun than a TIG torch...

    Home built stainless grates

    Here's a set of 3 grates I put together for a friend of mine: !/4" SS304 round stock w/ 1/2" gaps.

9.5MM Grill Grates for Weber Spirit 300

I just built a set of grates out of 1/4" SS304, about 18"x31", for less than $50 in steel. 1/2" spacing, which might be more than people want. 3/8".....off the cuff, less than $10 more, and 1/4" gaps, $15-20 more. These grates are going into use in 10 days. I'll post up pics after I get back...

Actually, with the steel supplier I found this spring, I think I'm back under Qulimetal's pricing.

9.5MM Grill Grates for Weber Spirit 300

I am contemplating a pre-emptive strike, and asking a local [retired] machinist to make me up some jigs for 1/4" and 3/8" round stock with 3/8" spacing. I've already got jigs for both bar sizes with 1/2" spacing. I've grilled asparagus on my 3/8" x 1/2" grates with no issue at all. I don't...

9.5MM Grill Grates for Weber Spirit 300

I'm with @Bruce on this one. My grill grates are 3/8" (just a bit over 9mm) round stock on 1/2" spacing and I figure that's nearly perfect. A 1/8" gap IMO would be awfully close.
