    Parts Questions

That's what I do. All of my grates are rusted -- and of course the 2 year warranty on my 22" ran out in March. I'm sure my Home Depot has the grates, I just didn't know what size I needed. Thanks.

    Parts Questions

Sorry, I'm not sure why I can't find these answers on the Weber site, and I'm not finding the right stuff on Amazon. I need a charcoal grate for the 18.5 Bullet. The info here says its 15", but I don't see that size on Amazon. And what size is the lower grate for the 18.5 Bullet and the 22"...

Can you smoke without a water pan?

So - what's the benefit of not using water? Just saving on the hassle? You still need something to keep the drips off the coals?

    Heater Meter Waterproofing Ideas

Alan -- sorry to stray off topic, but is there a thread explaining how you attached the table to your smoker? how much weight can you put on it without worrying about tipping?

    Char-Baskets?

I'm getting my Performer this weekend. I've never used those char-baskets. for grilling burgers, chicken cutlets, steaks -- do you all recommend to use the baskets to create a concentrated hot zone for searing, or do you forego the baskets and just put the coals on one side of the grate?

doing anything different this bbq season?

Russ -- Awesome yard. Awesome smoke house. I need to make some raised beds this year. Is that regular construction lumber? Am I correct that pressure-treated can't be used for beds due to the chemicals? On better burgers -- if you have a steak house in town that ages its own meat, go ask if...

Gifts for Someone New to the 'Que?

I decided to go with the Maverick ET-733, a "It's Never Too Cold To BBQ" mug and a t-shirt. I think Jerry's right that there's no need for a BBQ book.

Gifts for Someone New to the 'Que?

What's the deal with the cajun bandit door? I've seen some mention of it. what's the benefit?

Gifts for Someone New to the 'Que?

I'd be worried that if I gave him a Maverick he'd stab me in the heart with a broken probe.

Gifts for Someone New to the 'Que?

A friend of mine just bought a 22". Any suggestions for a good gift? Is there a good book on BBQ? I thought about a Maverick ET-733 or maybe a good set of gloves? Or those bear claws for pulling pork? Any suggestions? ETA: Oh -- If I click the "Amazon" link above and then place an order...

Maverick ET - 73 -- Not registering transmitter

Yeah, I've tried it both ways. It's just not connecting.

    Thanks. That's a bit pricey.

Maverick ET - 73 -- Not registering transmitter

The transmitter unit seems to be registering the temperature (although I'm not sure it's accurate). I'm just not getting the wireless connection to the receiver. I don't think it's a probe issue.

Maverick ET - 73 -- Not registering transmitter

I've tried both. Receiver first, transmitter first. The little sattelite dish icons are flashing, but i'm still getting the three dashes on the receiver. And now my receiver unit is turning on by itself. I think it's time to move forward to the ET733 or perhaps a new brand.

Maverick ET - 73 -- Not registering transmitter

Yeah, i've tried turning the transmitter on and off and pushing the tx button. When I turn on the receiving unit, I get three beeps. Is this right? The instructions don't mention any beeps when turning on the receiver.

    Wireless Thermometers for WSM

Why wont the meat probe register the temperature in the chamber? I see there will soon be an iGrill2. Anyone think it's worth waiting for this? I don't know that I've ever seen a product (meat thermometers in general, wireless in particular) with such consistently bad reviews. It seems like...

Maverick ET - 73 -- Not registering transmitter

I just dug out my old Maverick -- probably 5 years old. New batteries. Everything seems to be working, except the receiver is not picking up the signal. The units are right next to each other. Any ideas? (I've never liked this thing.)
