    26.75 Leg fix

George, Only time will tell. I'll take the $3.48 risk. Maybe it will work for a couple of seasons, maybe 43 seasons like the original legs did.

    26.75 Leg fix

The legs on my 1968-'70 26.75 Copper Mist were pretty wobbly so I looked around for metal shims but couldn't find any at the big box stores. A mechanic told me about starter shims sold at Napa. The shims came four to a carton and were under $4.00. I tapped one end of the shim into the leg...

Stuart, There doesn't seen to be much competition here in Anchorage. I guess I'm the only Weberholic here. I'll keep you in mind when I come across something I already have.

    Two newbie questions.

In regards to question#2. Yes. I have a lid thermometer on my performer and Mini WSM, both lid temps are around 25 degrees higher than grill temp. Now I don't always use my grill probe since I know the lid temp is consistently 25 degrees higher than the grill grate temp.

I have the Maverick with original probes and am fine with the length. I have a 26.5 and a performer I use for longer cooks and use the performer's grill table to place the maverick on.

Talk about luck got a performer platinum for $50

You'll love the performer. It's my go-to grill. I just saw one on CL, new in box, up here in Anchorage for $100. I 've got 6 grills on my deck; don't have the room for another performer. I should buy it and put it in the shed.
