I was having a similar situation recently. I had used my smoker several times, and had been able to easily get to 250*. But, on a couple recent smokes I was having difficulty getting up to 220... very frustrating. I decided I had to have done something to my smoker making it act badly. Turns...

I hadn't thought about an alarm before... it'd be great if StokerLog could set off an alarm if it loses connection... and if it could power-cycle the stoker in those cases, that, too, would be good. I'll be watching closely for those options!

Just think what you'd have paid for all the tasty meals you won't get from your WSM while waiting for a used one. Don't worry about the cost... live it up and go get yourself a new one... you won't be sorry you did!

Yes, it was an expense. StokerLog is actually the only reason I run Windows... I thought it was a (relatively) small incremental cost to be able to use this great program. YMMV

As for not using StokerLog because "you're a Mac guy"... I'm a Mac guy as well... use Parallels Desktop (assuming your Mac is Intel-based) and run Windows that way. At this very moment I have a cook underway using my Mac... it works great!!

I had that issue, too... I just took a small file to the collar until it fit. Also, be careful that you don't tighten the collar too much... it's really easy to punch the set screw through the grommet.

Was the scrubber something like this?

I spent some time this weekend on this issue on my Stoker. I futzed with it for a couple hours, being totally unable to get a test message to send at all. For some reason, I accidentally closed StokerLog. After I restarted it, it worked! Odd, I know, but I won't argue with the sudden success.

It really does work just fine with only the fan's vent open.

I haven't had a lot of cooks with the Stoker yet. I leave my top vent fully opened, but I see others that leave it at 50%... I'm going to have to play with that as the warmer weather comes around. I tend to shoot for the 250 mark... haven't tried the higher heat yet. I'm near 470 & Bowles...

I had a similar problem with mine... the button would respond if I pushed it REALLY hard. That wasn't a good thing, so I sent it back to Rock's for repair... he got it fixed and back in the mail to me the same day he received it. It was disappointing, but he did have a quick turn-around on it...
