Did you shut down the Heatermeter disconnect the Lan cable then reboot? As I remember you cant connect to it wireless if it is plugged in to the Lan

Chris, you need to set up the DNS server in the heater meter and then sign up at No-ip, or Dyndns.org to get it set up. See Wiki https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/Dynamic-DNS-(Setting-External-Host-Name)

Ralp, Love the new RD3, did overnight 15 pound brisket. After a minor adjustment in the PID setting, temps were rock study for 21 hours at 225 I think it out performs the First RD you made for me. Cant wait to try it n the high heat cook.

Did he try going to "heatermeter.com/devices" this should show him the the HM, if it did get an IP address. I always set my IP address as static so I can reach it form outside my network with port forwarding.
