WSM 22"- Minion method too hot

Has anyone ever experienced the fire dying out in the WSM if you leave the bottom vents open to just a sliver?

    Love my Q!

I love the efficiency of those Q grills. It uses mere drops of propane at a time.

    Q200 with 220 thermometer installed

I was always reluctant to drill a hole through that nice, sturdy lid. Didn't even think that was possible with home tools. The Q lids seem much thicker than the kettles'. I love those Qs!

Be careful before buying a used Summit!

Does anyone know if the Genesis II line continues that trend of cast aluminum fireboxes?

    Should I get a 26" Kettle or a 22" WSM?

    Agreed--great idea Timothy!

    Akorn Jr Wings

I got an Akorn Jr last year with the stone diffuser and am lovin' it. It uses barely any hardwood to get super hot easily. At around 100 dollars when on sale at Walmart, it's like a bargain Green Egg with a cast iron grate.

    Should I get a 26" Kettle or a 22" WSM?

How large a packer brisket have you been able to fit in the 18WSM? I had thought that the 18 would require a whole lot of trimming to fit, whereas the 22 can take anything Costco sells... In any case, having two 26ers sounds like a lot of fun!

    Should I get a 26" Kettle or a 22" WSM?

I am drooling with envy at the many of you in this forum who have and use both. But thanks for the helpful advice about the apparent easiness of cleaning the WSM's water pan when lined with foil, as well as the capacity of doing up to 3 slabs of ribs indirect in the 26er. When I get one or the...

    Should I get a 26" Kettle or a 22" WSM?

Hi y'all, My wife gave me the OK to get another grill. (I know, lucky am I, right?) I am debating between getting the large 26" Kettle and a 22" WSM. My main purpose is to be able to smoke a whole packer brisket without having to reload charcoal during my overnight cooks. Also, I want to...

WSM 14.5, want to try a brisket

This sometimes works. But when it doesn't, the brisket straightens out as it cooks and touches the edges. The last time I did this, the brisket tightened up, flattened out, and knocked the lid open, thus sending more airflow and shooting the temps up above 350+. I ended up with an overcooked...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

Tremendous research! I stand corrected. And perhaps the ~.2-.5lb difference is caused by the new LE emblem.

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

Is it just me, or does the limited edition grill seem a bit lighter to you? I checked it out at Lowes yesterday and was not as impressed by the materials. The lid seemed thinner and lighter IMO...

Had a great experience on my first cook on the 22 WSM

Great looking pics and food! Family must be quite satisfied. I'm eyeballing a 22" WSM myself. Have been smoking brisket on the regular kettle grill for the past few years. Think I want to upgrade so I won't need to reload charcoal for an overnight cook.

    Goodbye Little Green Propane Cans

Did you have to use an adapter to switch from canisters to tanks? I'm assuming the connectors are different.

Top or bottom vents: what difference does choosing one over the other make?

When I am smoking on my 22" OTG, I typically close the top vent to 50% to lower the temperature. I generally leave the bottom vent wide open. If I am shooting for cooking low and slow, does it matter which vent I close? I want to try to maintain the same 225 temps while extending the life of...

    Trader Joe's Pizza Dough

When using pizza stones on a grill, I would heartily recommend using a pizza pan (one of those larger spatulas), and even a sprinkle of corn meal at the bottom. Makes placing/removing the pizza dough much easier.

    Your take on wood chips

I've been throwing in chunks w/o soaking them first and have not noticed a difference. If anything, I always get a decent smoke flavor, not too much. My favs: mesquite, apple. If I had oak around, I'd try that.

    Jumbo Joe at Walmart

Along with the name changes, I noticed that they moved the location of the lid hooks. Now, they are all perpendicular to the handle, which in my opinion makes it much more cumbersome to use.

    Good Bye 320

I'll take a Q any day! I love it for its efficiency. Any Q will cook and retain heat as well as any other gas grill, while only using 1/3 of the propane. But then again, I'll take any Spirit/Genesis/Summit also!

Does anyone like the location of the lid hooks of the newer kettle grills?

I love the older OTG lids with their inner lid hooks placed directly under the thumb area of the handle. It makes it very easy to slide onto edge of the grill for hanging while your hand is grabbing the handle vertically like a beer mug. But at my local grilling store, I noticed that the...
