    Summit Grill Review

Oh, one more thing. Take pictures of it when it is new so that you can sigh every once in a while as you reminisce what your baby used to look like!

    Summit Grill Review

Kenwood, You'll love the D6. I have had it for about a year and love it. It's great when 30-40 people are over. I've also had success using it for two person cooks by just firing up two of the burners for direct grilling. It seems a waste to fire up the kettle for two steaks or fillets. The...

    Smoke day 2006

16 lbs of picnic followed by three loin backs. I found an old 10 lb bag of old Kingsford at Saveon Drugs and used that for almost the entire cook. Added about 20 lit coals to finish off the ribs.

    Apple-Brined Whole Turkey

Pat, That looks like the Maverick I picked up at BBQ Galore yesterday for $7.99. C&B probably licensed it from Maverick. Maverick Surface Thermometer

    2 Prime Ribs ???

I'm not an expert here but you might want to put that four pounder in a couple of hours later. I've cooked small rib roasts before at 350 and they cook pretty fast. I'm sure it will be done way before the larger roast if you start them at the same time.

If you don't see a full brisket in the display ask the guys behind the window for a full one.

Another way to light a chimney

Yes, I believe Mapp gas is a hotter burning type of propane. You'll find the Mapp gas along with the regular propane bottles at building supply stores. The Mapp bottles I have seen are yellow in color vs. the blue bottles of the regular propane. The Mapp gas does cost more.

Another way to light a chimney

I use the side burner of the gasser too. Out of curiostiy, do you leave your burner ring on and place the chimney on it or do you take it off so the burner goes right under the coals in the chimney? I've been taking the ring off but I was wondering if the heat build-up was too great for the...

Cleaning the Baby Q and use of Non-Stick materials

Stephen, I believe the owners manual states that the grate should NOT be cleaned after use. The manual states that this grease build up helps to protect the iron from rust. A burn off prior to cooking and a quick brush off is sufficient. However, Phil's method works too if you're going to keep...

    New 2006 Weber Q

I saw it at the Home Depot Expo a couple of days ago. It's a big mother and not really what I would call a "portable grill." For that size I'd go with a Genesis.

    ET 73 temp question

What is the highest temp that the ET 73 can safely record without damaging the cord? I have heard there is a High-Temp probe but I can't find it on their website. Can the regular probe go up to 500 degrees?

    Genesis v. Charcoal

Another vote for the gasser. I'll only use the kettle when I want to play with fire. I've found that, even with the D6, it is cheaper to use gas vs charcoal. You waste a lot of the charcoal once you finish cooking while the gasser goes off immediately. Four bags of charcoal for $22.00 vs one...

    New Summit grill owner

Terry, forget the chips. You can use chunks in the Summit box. I have a D6 and pull out the smaller chuncks for my wood bag for grilling. I use the large chunks for smoking in the WSM. The big problem with the gasser is the loss of smoke. The design of a grill is not as air tight as a smoker...

    Maverick Thermometer Probes Failing?

Chris, yesterday I posted something on this matter. I've used mine three times and it went on the fritz. I called Maverick and they said I had to buy a new one. Whoa I says, no way. Before I waste my money on a new probe reading HHH I'd rather credit that to a Nu-Temp. Anyways, they agreed to...
