    Snake Method & Smoke

I typically only see that bad smoke from the chimney for the first few minutes when the bottom layers are getting going. That stops and later I get a thin blue smoke, that's actually hard to see at all (what I understand as the good smoke), as the briquettes in the upper part light. I always...

Have you got your covid vaccine yet?

My wife and I both received our second shots Friday. She went someplace different and got Moderna, I got the Pfizer vaccine. My wife was in some rough shape Saturday, with chills and fatigue, and her arm hurt pretty bad. Other than her arm, she was fine Sunday. My arm was a little sore, and...

    The Humor Thread

The first thing that came to my mind... "Follow. But! Follow only if ye be men of valor! For the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel, that no man yet has fought with it... and lived! BONES of full fifty men lie *strewn* about its lair! So! Brave knights! If you do...

    Snake Method & Smoke

I target between 225 and 275, depending on what I'm cooking and how much time I want to take. I have no problems keeping it lit and the standard setup I use is two rows on bottom and one on top. If it is cold outside, or extra windy, I may start with more lit coals or modify my setup ...

    Snake Method & Smoke

I've not had an issue either. Since I do not have a WSM and I pitched my old electric smoker, the snake method in my kettle is how I do low and slow. I've even made Christmas dinner using the snake method (rib roast). I use Kingsford as well.

How about some good music links?

I like quite a bit of Classical, though my time as a music major and the music history class keeps telling me classical is a period, and many people erroneously lump several periods together as classical that don't technical belong. But I ended up being a geologist so I don't get too hung up...

How about some good music links?

You mean other than Sweet Caroline? I don't, but depending on the song, I might not change the channel if it comes on. But honestly I'm not usually listening to a station or streaming channel that would play one of his songs. Having said that, I really enjoyed The Jazz Singer. Watched it...

Have you got your covid vaccine yet?

    Leftovers

Unfortunately, I missed getting any pictures of the ribeye on the grill. But sometimes leftovers are great and I thought I'd share. Leftover ribeye from the previous night, leftover bacon from breakfast, onions and jalapenos from taco night. Season, add provolone and habanero jack cheese...

Coarse gravel would have a of -4 to -5 on the Krumbein phi scale. Anything with a less than -8 classifies as a boulder. Based on the international scale, coarse gravel (CGr) is only 20-63 mm. A large boulder (LBo) is anything greater than 630 mm. Using the orange barrels for scale, this...

Have you got your covid vaccine yet?

My state just opened it up for my age group yesterday. I'm scheduled for my first shot next Friday. My wife actually got an opening earlier, but she's driving a couple towns over, and I was looking for an excuse to take some time off on a Friday afternoon.

What music streaming services do you recommend...?

I had Google Play Music and liked it quite a bit. But Google killed it and moved everyone over to YouTube Music. I won't go into what all I liked about GPM, since it isn't even an option now, but many of the big ones either don't exist on YouTube Music, or don't work the way it should. I'm...

How about some good music links?

Last year my daughter suggested I give these guys a listen and they've since been added to my regular rotation. I know they've gotten a lot of flack for sounding too much like Led Zeppelin, but the more I listen to them, the more impressed I am.

First Impressions Lodge Carbon Steel Skillet

I find that my lodge carbon steel pans are great for just about everything except eggs. Sometimes it works great, other times they end up scrambled regardless of how they started. One thing I've noticed is that the first eggs to go in tend to do better. If I try to cook more in the same pan...

Yeah, I know. But that character is one of my favorites.

And now for something completely different...

Not that anyone is as excited as me, but I got a text earlier this evening from my salesman with the picture below...my Jeep has arrived. I should be picking it up tomorrow. Having said that, there is a new leader in the potential name list, and it's not one that was listed above. Fits both...

    College Bowl Games

My Alma Mater is playing this afternoon against San Jose State in the Arizona Bowl. The game starts at 2:00 and my boss says we're closing at 1:00 today for New Year's Eve. What luck! Go Cards!!

And now for something completely different...

During dinner last night, I read some of the responses from here and the whole family got into a brainstorming session (my wife is also trading in her van for a new vehicle and is contemplating names too). So now the list has been adjusted, in no particular order, as such: Rey M-Bot Zippe...

Oh now that's just the type of subtle reference that I love. That's getting on the list.

And now for something completely different...

Not Weber related, but this group seems to have some pretty sharp minds so... I am currently waiting on delivery of my mid-life crisis vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler Sport that I ordered last month (it's been built and is waiting to be shipped). I have only named two other vehicles in my life, my...
