Want to move to Washington state - longer post

Thanks ChuckO - I considered Oregon too and will keep looking into it. I gravitated towards Washington because of pro sports but it isn't a huge deal. I never thought of Nevada but will look into it. As far as always being cold in Washington - I am on the Lake in Ohio where is it 0 or below...

Want to move to Washington state - longer post

Hello! I currently live near Cleveland, OH and I am looking to move. Not in the near future but I want to start thinking about it. I have lived here my entire life and feel like I need a change. I don't mind a little snow but I am tired of being snowed in from November to April. I have always...

    Smokey Joe Garage Sale Find

The code is EZ I don't know if the pan is a Weber part but it fits perfectly? There are no marking on it. I usually don't have luck at garage sales. My father-in-law is retired and pretty much goes to multiple per day, every weekend. He happened to find it for me. They wanted $10 and he...

Scored a SJ Silver at a garage sale for $5. Wood handled. I am definitely going to turn it into a Mini WSM.

Sauce Varieties Question for a noob

Hello! I live in Northeast Ohio. Not exactly the BBQ mecca of the USA. In fact, I can only think of 3 BBQ restaurants in my county, and they aren't exactly tourist attractions. I am interested in making my own sauces but I am confused by all the regional names and what type is what. Can...

    drumsticks in WSM

Hi Jason, I have done drumsticks a few times based on the instructions found here. http://virtualweberbullet.com/chicken6.html I do not even know what the temperature was since I do not use a thermometer when I do it. I closed all the vents as soon as I was done to try to conserve some charcoal.

Turkey - Couldn't get up to temperature

Hello, Sorry I am just now getting back. Thanks for all the info. I put unlit on top of lit, i will try the reverse next time. I started with the empty bowl in the smoker, but then took it completely out to see if it would help get the temp up. All vents including the top were open. I use...

Turkey - Couldn't get up to temperature

Thanks. I will do that next time. Usually I am worried about getting the temp too high, not too low. Thanks for the suggestion.

Turkey - Couldn't get up to temperature

I didn't use a water pan and kept them all open like in the directions. I lit a full chimney, then added an unlit chimney but waited for them to become mostly lit... eventually added half of another lit chimney. I still couldn't figure it out.

Turkey - Couldn't get up to temperature

Hello, I tried a turkey practice run this weekend and it wasn't very successful. I followed the directions on the main page for the apple-brined turkey. I could not get the temperature up. I topped out around 275. I ended up putting it in the oven to finish since I was crunched for time...
