    Alabama > Moulton: John's BBQ

John's BBQ 15165 Court St Moulton, AL 35650 Small local BBQ I have been going to since I was a kid. Built out of 4 log cabins melded together, John's is famous for it's stuffed potatoes. Pulled pork and chicken are excellent inside the over sized potatoes. Ribs are mediocre, they do have...

Good Price for a Genesis 3000????

Well I just got back home... empty handed. It was in pretty good condition, while carrying it to load into the pickup, the long bottom railings both fell off. Rust was on each end of the support railings.... I was so sad :( I remember guys saying to watch for rust on the frame... and there it...

Good Price for a Genesis 3000????

Here is a picture of it. Owner said they put stainless grates on it a couple of years ago. THey said it does need a ignitor, but said they have a brand new one that they never installed but will throw in. I did talk them down to $110...but have yet to see it in person

Good Price for a Genesis 3000????

I found a Genesis on CL. I "think" it is a 3000, it may be a 4000. Has the side burner, long frame, etc... It looks to be well taken care of from pics. Being that it is still 10+ years old... what is a good price for it? They are asking $130 for it and it is an hour drive away. Looking to maybe...

School Me on Weber Gas Grills....

So I have always had a charcoal grill, and I bought a Char Broil Infra-red grill about 5 years ago and it has really been a GREAT grill. It's not one of those infrareds that had the terrible grates that always rusted, I somehow bought the only style that had ceramic grates. Thats beside the...

Like New 22" Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker Grill w/ $275 of BBQ Extras

I swear that the 22" I have seen have 2 vents on the top and doesn't have that handle on the side. Am I crazy? Does this thing come with factory hinges?

    WANTED: 18.5 WSM Cover

I bought a 18.5 WSM off of CL yesterday, the owner didn't have a cover for it. I didn't know if anyone had a spare or one that may have a used one they don't use any more. Thanks C.Hill

    Way Too Hot!!

I have a separate thermo (similar to Maverick) that I plug meat and pit probes in. It's wireless so I can take it in house. I don't hook Meat probe up to DigiQ because I don't need it, but the DigiQ needs pit probe to monitor temp.

    Way Too Hot!!

The only think I could think of that would let extra air in... would be where the probes come out. I have them coming out at the top and the lid closes down on it, so the lid I guess probably isn't air tight.... but would that really be enough for such high temps? Its 3 probe wires.

    Way Too Hot!!

I have a pan full of water... still temps rose. I have the DigiQ damper closed 2/3 of the way, so only 1/3 way open. Every other bottom vent I taped closed.

    Way Too Hot!!

Would the size of the meat have anything to do with it? Perhaps not big enough to absorb heat? Like right now, I have a 4lb butt in. I started with 9 lit briquettes, dumped them in a whole ring of charcoal, and temps slowly came up...but they keep climbing. All the vents are closed except the...

    Way Too Hot!!

I am using the Minion Method... hence throwing the lit coals onto the unlit coals. I just may be putting too much on there. Even tho I read about guys putting a whole lit chimney on it and not having any problems

    Way Too Hot!!

I checked the roundness. It is actually very round. All pieces fit very snug. The door used to seep a little bit of smoke, I took it off, curved it a bit, and now fits very snug. But like Phil said, I am getting hot before it is even sealed.... Like others have said... it may be too much lit...

    Way Too Hot!!

I also haven't been counting the briquettes, just been pouring some in the Weber Chimney, which I am sure is 20+ lit coals. So perhaps I will count them out and start with way less
  18. C

    Way Too Hot!!

I was hoping perhaps I have been overdoing it with the lit charcoal... I know everyone says once it hits 200 to start closing vents... but by the time I put the whole thing together after pouring lit coals, its already flying past 200

    Way Too Hot!!

So I bought my 18" WSM used off CL from a guy who used it a few times but preferred gas. I just did my 3rd cook on it today and like both other times, the temps run away. Today I did a fatty, only filled the ring about 1/4 full charcoal and about 1/3 full chimney starter of charcoal. I have...

Home Depot early spring KBB sale?

After buying 27 bags of Stubbs a few weeks ago for $4.49.... I went to Lowes, got them to price match HD for $9.88 for the 2-bags... then 10% off of that, and Lowes didn't have a bag limit, so I bought 10... and they also threw in 10 cans of lighter fluid (still trying to decide what to do with...
