    I use them in my Performer for indirect, and direct just like many have said either pushed together or apart. My original set that came with my performer where made of round steel rod curved and welded, they lasted forever. When I finally had to replace I ordered from Weber and the "New" style...

    Mike, I picked one up off ebay nice and long like Morgans. I use it on the gasser also. Morgan love your post's! always great food, and just the fact your doing this up yonder in Alaska is neat! So where are you in hours of daylight now?

    My first Weber was the Performer when they first came out....... It for sure is a BBQ'in machine, you will not be sorry! I also would replace it in a heartbeat, mine has the stainless steel top and cleans up like new even after all these years!

    I bought a 18.5 put it together sized it with a rack of baby backs laying across the grate I then went in the house and ordered the 22.5. Returned the 18.5 the next day. I pre ordered the 14.5 and the first cook was baby backs, cut the racks in half easily fit 3 half racks on each shelve...
