My most difficult to close CL score ever

My most difficult to close CL score ever

So I see a CL ad in Madison for a portable Weber grill. Guy has a link in the ad to Amazon for a Weber Smokey Joe Gold, exactly what I wanted to build a Smokey Jose. So I e-mail the guy, tell him I'll give him a little more than he's asking and try to arrange a time to get it (about 2 miles from...

    Hmmm What to do

I would use it too. Clean it after use, store it inside and it will look like new for as long as you have it. Nice score!

    wcga use

Phubar and the Lowland Smokers have other cookers as well (BGE, UDSs, etc...) but I think they won the Dutch National BBQ championship cooking predominantly on WGAs. The thing that kills me is the three sets of custom Marty Leach handles on each of those WGAs cost more than the WGAs do. I love...

Getting a WSM, selling OTG...what's it worth?

I have seen OTGs on CL for anywhere from $40 to $100. Depends on how nice of shape it's in. I got my OTG for $40 off of CL.

Post a pic of your Pet (Dog) *****

This is Duncan in one of his calmer moments. He was at my mom and dads while we were away. I think he was depressed. He's half rat terrier, half Jack Russell. At 9 years old now he is still a puppy and loves to play with his stuffed animals. He likes nothing more than snuggling with his dad (me)...

Do you keep trying new rubs?

Absolutely! Life is too short and there are a lot of really good rubs and seasonings available. I have the rubs that I use when I compete for the most part, but when I am at home everything is fair game. In fact I just cooked some pork cutlets with Mrs. Sippy Sweet Rub that I got as a trial...

Timothy, Love the photos! I happen to have a pretty good shot I took too. I am a true amateur, but I love aviation.

Nice job Kevin! I could so go for a thigh of one of those birds. Nom nom nom.

    Relaxed fit cover

Good thinking. I bet a cover from a 22.5" kettle would have worked too. I think that's what one of my WSM covers actually is.

    Jargon query / dumb question

Hi Jen, Just saw this post and thought I'd jump in. At a typical comp (KCBS), at the awards ceremony following all of the judging, the top 10 teams in each category get their name called to receive a ribbon, medal, trophy and/or check. So getting a "call" means you placed in the top 10 of a...

My 1st CL score! My 1st smoker! My 1st smoke! THANKS!

Congratulations on your score and your first cook. Nice looking ribs. As far as the cooker running hot, it could have been due to the cleaning, it could also be due to something being out of round and leaking air. After the cook, did you close all of the vents top and bottom? If you did, did...

    Good price on kitchen knives?

Hey Pat, I don't know about the quality of those knives, but at the clearance price they have listed, I would be buying one of each. It's not like you're gonna be throwing a fistful of dollars out the window.

4th Annual Brew-B-Que in Lodi WI, Sept. 24

It's starting to look like I need to cancel my planned entry to Warrens, and may stay closer to home and come cook this one.

    The cold shoulder...

First thing that popped into my head was cut it in half. It will reduce the cook time and add a bunch of surface area for smoke and bark. Other than that it looks like it would be a very long cook.

What to do with Butts for 5-6hrs after done?

I have had butts hold in a cooler for almost 8 hours and they were still so hot they were uncomfortable to pull. Guess it depends on how good your cooler is.
