    Amazon Order

I agree with Miguel and Bob. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't get the tool set. I have bought a few sets and have found that I don't use the basting brush and they're mostly cheap-o. For me, the most important tool is the tongs. In sets, the tongs are often wonky at best. Just get good tongs...

What do you use for a charcoal tool/rake?

I use an old tool that my hubster's dad made at least 50 years ago. Looks sort of like those thingies that the craps table guys use. Also some crummy old bbq tongs and a garden trowel. But I like the homemade gizmo the best!

    STOK Cast Iron Grate Review

The HD description says the grate is porcelaine coated, so I think it just needs to be brushed clean and maybe a little oil just to be safe. But I wouldn't think rust would be a big a problem as seasoned CI. The grates on my gasser have a coating and they show no signs of rust after at least 7...

Smoking on the Kettle for $10 (pic heavy)

I don't yet have a WSM, so until that glorious day I'll have to use an alternate method. I have tried the the fire brick method in my kettle and I like it. And I'm going to try this set up for sure! I have a question for Jim! I'm pretty new around here and I'm just wondering why you don't...

Thoughts/ opinions on using falx seed oil?

At work, our chef has three really crusty CI skillets that I would like to rehab for him. After eading various posts on this site I'm pretty sure how to get the gunk off of them. But after reading this blog, here I'd like to know what others think about using flax seed oil to reseason CI.

    Restaurant Depot

I shop at RD in Torrance, CA at least twice a week for our sr citizens lunch program and I just love the place! You do need a membership and for that you need the bus. license. I have found their meats to be very good quality and the price is right! And the cooking equip. dept. is great as well...
