    Summit Kamado question

I've had my E6 for just over 2 months. With the included CBs and deflector it does a lot of things really well. I did see some mod ideas on this site and others. I wanted a better way to manage charcoal so I got the angle grinder out and made this expanded metal ring: But it wasn't great...

Using WSM 18” charcoal chamber in Summit Kamado for smoking

Perfect explanation, thank you very much. Just did the initial burn-in tonight and liked the way it responds to vent changes. Need to get some ribs on this weekend!

Using WSM 18” charcoal chamber in Summit Kamado for smoking

Thanks! And if I measured correctly it looks like the ring will fit between the middle shelf and top grate for grilling, can you confirm?

Using WSM 18” charcoal chamber in Summit Kamado for smoking

I just took delivery of a new WSK. Haven't done a thing with it yet but make a couple measurements. It looks like it's about 4.625" from the bottom charcoal grate to where the deflector mounts. I liked the idea of using the 18" WSM charcoal ring but that's 4.75" high - how are you guys making...

Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker (18-1/2") $120

This would be a bridge too far I think! As I was cleaning it up this weekend I was kind of amazed that a smoker I bought in 2006 still has a near-showroom finish. Weber quality. My Akorn hasn't fared nearly as well. So I'm clearing some patio space for a Weber Kamado to replace them both.

Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker (18-1/2") $120

Update 5/15 - SOLD Nice capacity for family parties, I've done cooks with 4 pork butts or 6 rib racks or the Thanksgiving turkey. Condition: Very good. Minor exterior blemishes. Bowl & body are round, no rattle or smoke leak. All vents operational. Both top cooking and bottom cooking...

New Weber pellet grills for 2020

I’d be interested in the time gap between smoking temps and 600° sear temps. I like to reverse sear chops and steaks to put some smoke on first then finish at hi temp. Right now I wind up using two grills, or taking the meat off for a while and putting it back on. If the smokefire can do it...

    Billows...this should be interesting

Wow, 46 CFM sounds like it could start a tornado in there. My 13 year old PitMinder has a 5 CFM fan and it's perfect for my 18.5 WSM & Kamado. My model is discontinued but BBQ Guru's PartyQ seems to have about the same specs at $150.

    Alternative parts for WSM makeover?

Sounds like you're not planning to use the door anymore? I taped mine shut w alum tape, eventually it came off so I shut it permanently w/ sheet metal screws.

    WSM 18.5 replacement water bowl

Thanks all! I actually have one of the old Brinkman pans somewhere, bought it when I was still using water; unfortunately you lose some charcoal space w/ that one too. My only concern with a SS mixing bowl is that it might have some other stuff in the metal that might not be good to burn, or...

    WSM 18.5 replacement water bowl

My original water bowl developed a hole and I'm looking to replace it. I don't like the new replacement from Weber because it's so deep. I run without water, really just looking for a grease tray / deflector. Saw a shallower SS mixing bowl at a Restaurant Equippers that may fit the bill...

    Eye of round roasts

Well, if you're in an equipment-buying mode, consider a sous vide cooker from SanSaire or Anova! Maybe one of the best ways to turn an inexpensive eye round roast into something that tastes a lot more expensive. I got one a couple years ago, it works wonders with meats. With eye round, you...

Should I use the water pan?

I quit using water when I got my BBQ Guru controller. Keep the foil-lined pan in there to catch drippings. Many posts here on the water/no water issue. I never noticed any difference, it was purely a heat sink. All you're going to lose is that greasy slick to get rid of at the end of the cook.

    Tri tip BBQ?

Recently our local Wegman's has been carrying this cut too, you might try there if you have one nearby. This is a fabulous cut. I second the motion on some of the above comments, smoke it to an IT of 100-110 (oak or pecan are great), then crank the heat and sear to finish. Medium rare is...

Attitude on Weber Summit Charcoal Grill pricing

I did not notice a tag on it, so I don't know whether he's starting from MSRP or minimum advertised price.

Attitude on Weber Summit Charcoal Grill pricing

I just had to see this thing, so I drove over this morning to the only South Jersey dealer that is carrying this grill. He had the Summit Charcoal Grill on display, along with other high-end charcoal & gas grills including BGE's and BSK's. I must say that touching one of these thing in person...

Weber Summit Charcoal Grill and Summit Charcoal Grilling Center - New for 2016

Exactly the right perspective. Clearly none of us NEED this cooker. But it's way cheaper than a sports car or a mistress. I'll see what my wife thinks!

    2016 New Weber Products

Weber is doing a great job of keeping this quiet. I've been to 2 high-volume hardware stores that handle Weber, and asked them about the new product. Got an embarrassed blank stare at both places, they both went to call their district rep.

    Grill of a Lifetime

OK, anyone else get this teaser from Weber about a new product? http://www.weber.com/grillofalifetime?utm_medium=rr-email&utm_campaign=grillofalifetime&utm_source=mailchimp Could this be the steel Kamado I've been waiting for????
