My DigiQ BBQ Guru - I know it's been said before but...

I did not use the plugs in the other two lower vents, as the time will come when I will want to use my smoker without the Guru - but for plugging the 2 extra holes in the vent the Guru fits into, those plugs are great.

My DigiQ BBQ Guru - I know it's been said before but...

Rob, The plugs do not come with the DigiQ. I found mine at Home Depot in that section with the drawers full of speciality screws, clips and so on. The 3/4" plug fits my 18.5" WSM. I did however fold the little tabs backwards (on the inside of my cooker) so they would not fall out. They look...

My DigiQ BBQ Guru - I know it's been said before but...

I know it's been said before but... What a great item! My wife just bought me a DigiQ for my birthday and I tried it for my first time last night and this thing ROCKS! It was super easy to learn & use. I am amazed. I tested it on some inexpensive beef ribs, just in case there was a learning...

First Cook Tip - Use CHEAP Meat!

I was just looking through some of these threads and noticed that a lot of people use expensive meats for their first cook. There are so many things that can and do go wrong when first learning to use your WSM, that I thought I'd drop the tip to begin with cheap meats until you get the bugs...

    pan water or not?

I never use water. I did when I first started out, but I quickly found that water makes a mess, and can cause rust in your smoker. I never found it to "add moisture to the meat". I have found that 'almost' filling your water bath with clean sand, then wrapping a terra cotta tray with foil and...

A review of the DigiQ DX II BBQ temperature control system for use with WSM 22.5.

Jeff, I just ordered my first DigiQ and have a couple questions for you... When you closed all the lower vents, was your DigiQ working - blowing air at the same time? I'm not sure what you meant about the factory setting being +/- 50º. Can you please help me there? 50º seems like a big...

My 22 wsm mods... Check it out!

Leo, Was it difficult to drill the holes in the legs of your WSM? I looked at it once and thought that they would be off (angled) a bit - so I built a wood platform with wheels (which takes up room).

Lid Hinge for the WSM in action

    Got it. Thanks!

Lid Hinge for the WSM in action

How do you know this? is there an unknown bbq stamp on both of them?

Lid Hinge for the WSM in action

So what company makes this hinge? I saw that unknownbbq.com has as does BBQgaskets.com. Which one is better? (or are they exactly the same?)

Hinge install - gasket adhesive on nuts/bolts?

Thanks Nick. Good video, but I would have used a center punch rather than just jump in with a drill bit. That's just me maybe. It looked like the lid wobbled around a bit in the video, when he lifted it up. Is it a solid hinge or does the lid sway some when it is up?

Hinge install - gasket adhesive on nuts/bolts?

Sean, I agree with the center punch. I'm glad there are people here that have done this already. BTW, after centering the lid, do you drill the lid holes first and attach the hinge, or drill the body first? Does it matter?

Hinge install - gasket adhesive on nuts/bolts?

I'm the same way. I hope this is a doable project.

Hinge install - gasket adhesive on nuts/bolts?

Nick, Would painters tape, or duct tape - applied to the WSM then marked with the sharpie keep the drill from slipping?

Hinge install - gasket adhesive on nuts/bolts?

Rob, I am thinking about buying one of these hinges. Can you please explain what your "washer mod" is? Was the hinge difficult to get placed straight / correctly - so the lid opens & closes exactly? Thanks!

Does Brine Change the Texture of Turkey?

Bob - Is dry brine like a dry rub, only with some oil added? Got an article or a recipe you can post so I can see what you mean?

Smoke your turkey the easy way

Gary, are you saying that one can set 4 or 5 4" cans on the lower grill and then set the upper grill onto the cans?

Does Brine Change the Texture of Turkey?

I never use water, but my water bowl is full of sand - with a terracotta tray on top of the sand. Would that be ok?

any difference between cooking chicken and turkey?

Thanks for the tips. We get one shot at this for Thanksgiving and it's got to be right. I remember smoking my first Pork Crown - for Christmas dinner! OMG! If it turns out wrong (any type of wrong) and "that's Christmas dinner". It turned out perfect though - although I didn't have to concern...
