You know you're getting old when...

Yeah. Better appearance than correction fluid, but only really worked well with a typewriter. Shoot, this bottle even had a foam brush instead of a bristle brush. What will they think of next.....

You know you're getting old when...

And, just to go in the way back machine..... over the weekend, I watched someone buy a bottle of correction fluid. Okay, White-Out. Actually, he *DOES* have a good use case for it and is keeping a bottle at home and in the business (used at least quarterly.)

    Meater Pro thoughts

<shrug> I rocked an original ThermaPen for over 15 years, and a failing display (I suspect due to water,) is what got me to buy a ThermaPen one. I have never been disappointed with anything I've bought from Thermoworks.

Cannot connect my HeaterMeter to my WIFI network

I suspect you're working on multiple issues. Now that it's connecting to WiFi, finish that configuration. Set the password and in particular, set the hostname. Secondly, I have to wonder if you've got a problem communicating with the add-on board. That device should get programmed as soon as...

Cannot connect my HeaterMeter to my WIFI network

Any chance you can post a capture of the browser window? Can you get to the HM login page? I do know that I've been having some minor oddball issues over the last year+ where the HM pages do display rather slower than they used to (at least, that's my impression.) It hasn't been enough of...

I'm starting to get the itch (again) to try to make pierogi from scratch.

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

And the obligatory pics..... It started to snow just about the time I went out to start the charcoal. 9 minutes per side, with the fire lowered 1/3 to 1/2 way down from the grates to a nice rare to medium rare.

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

Around here, there's practically always somebody wandering around in shorts. Old college buddy of mine contracted for a few years down in Tampa, FL, called me the first winter he was down there laughing his head off at the people in full polar gear at 69 F. It's 26 F right now and will be...

Anyone else love grilling in sub freezing temps?

I regularly grill & smoke down well below freezing. I'll grant you that this is cheating, with a fully automated and insulated smoker. -6 F.

The cynic in me says that there's far more than one. IMNSHO, the FAA and/or the FCC will have to figure out how to track the control signals to find the operator. And then it'll just be a cut out. I thought that it was apparent some years ago that these cheap drones were going to be a problem.

<grumble> And the idiots are out. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-01-09/drone-collides-with-firefighting-aircraft-over-palisades-fire-faa-says Apparently Quebec 243 is now grounded pending inspection and repairs. Damage:

IMO, the good folks out west have lost sight of how important it is to control fuel, and especially dry fuel. Let it grow or accumulate close to buildings and structures, and bad things tend to happen. Most of us really do not have a good understanding of just how fast dry fuel fires can...

    What are you cooking today?

That's your new buggy, right? Was the ignition key in, and in what position? Guess I'm old enough and cranky enough that a lot of these modern "features" I consider to be active safety hazards. I'll get off my soapbox and stop beatin' my drum.

    What are you cooking today?

Wait, WHAT????? That sounds like a complete failed open battery. One of the gizmos I have here is a wheeled old school charger, with a 200 amp start feature. I'll get some watt-hours into it.... Had to use it a month ago on the truck, 3 year old batteries failed to even engage the starter on...

    Very Rare Tequila

@Todd NC , don't get me wrong, absolutely NONE of our bottles are for financial gain, they're all for consumption! Now, grills & smokers....... that's another story. Make me some tasty food with those.

    Very Rare Tequila

Life is too short to drink bad booze. Or eat bad food. Etc. We've discovered that we really do have an alcohol problem, but it's a purchasing problem, not a consumption problem. We tend to buy interesting stuff, but a fair amount of it. We have something like 20+ different bourbons alone in...
