Hoping third times the charm for my SnS

If I choked down any more I'd fear creosote to be a concern. My thought is that their recommended full basket is too much charcoal. When the fire gets to about half way, the earlier coals are still burning and that's a lot of lit going. Got my BBs on now and so far she's holding around 250. I...

Hoping third times the charm for my SnS

Thanks for your suggestion. My old one didn't seal real tight at the sweeper blades, my new one seals tight. All that was taken into account.

Hoping third times the charm for my SnS

I wasn't too happy with my first two uses of the Slow n Sear because both times the coals became overly lit too fast for any kind of low and slow cooking. First time was on my old Performer using Kingsford Pro. Started with very few lit at one end, but in a short period of time the temp was over...

You know you're getting old when...

A little British humour: A group of guys, all turning 40, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the waitresses had big boobs and wore mini-skirts. Ten years later, at age 50, the friends once again discussed...

The original Captain Kirk actor (and oldest astronaut)has discontinued his new line of lingerie. Apparently, Shatner panties wasn’t the best choice for a name.

110% agree with you. Some teams have to change their name and mascot due to the possible offensive nature to Native Americans, and they get away with that crap down there. Sadly it has caught on with Chiefs fans too. I do have some Native American blood in my veins, but it's not about that for me.

The Giants didn't get beat by the Dodgers, they got beat with an absolutely terrible call. Meanwhile, I'm very upset with the Cardinals organization. You just don't fire a manager of over 3 years, 18 years with the team, by calling him on the phone. His record was 255-199, so I doubt he'll be...

Easy to assume it was a man leaving the note, but not necessarily true. :) When my kids were young, and kept bugging me for something, I'd write NO! on a piece of paper, hand it to them and say "Here's your answer the next time you ask."

Thanks Rich, just ordered one on Amazon and it comes with a gizmo for popping tin lids with rings. I had looked at them before but wasn't sure if the worked very well.

Questions for our younger members. Are they putting jar lids on tighter than they used to? Also, are the pull ring can lids harder to open than before?

    Pork picnic into ham

Looks great, Gary! It's been many years since I've cured and smoked a ham. I used to pump them with Morton's Tender Quick. Morton called it a pumping pickle, and I don't remember the water to TQ ratio.

    Prime Chuck Burgers

A local store has been carrying various beef grinds from Schweid & Sons of NJ. One that intrigued me is a blend of brisket, short rib, and chuck, but at a price I'm not willing to pay. Yesterday I spotted this 4 burger pack, with a sell by date of yesterday, marked down from $10.99 to $6.59...
