Its funny, I have been looking for a Platypus ( Weber Platinum) for the Crimson kettle I received from Weber as a warranty replacement.
I decided to put it in a standard performer cart. I wasn't able to find a Weber Platinum on FB marketplace or anywhere else. I did score a really good deal on...
This looks like a good option for giving older kettles a new life
Definitely less hassle than trying to retro fit a standard kettle into a second hand Performer cart.
I noticed that the kettle will sit slightly higher in this cart than it would in performer cart.
It would probably require a...
I wrapped my brisket a little early last time and I felt like the stall was extended when I did that.
I went by internal temps and overlooked the other indicators of wrap readiness.
Do you have any theories on how that support burned through like that?

I recently had a similar experience with Weber customer support.
The porcelain cracked where my Tuck Away lid bail attached to my performer deluxe.
Called Weber sent photos and they sent me a new bowl & lid. It was a Crimson since the blue I had is special edition made for Crate and Barrel.

I use B&B lump.
For my long low n slow, I prefer B&B briquettes. I recently found it at Walmart for 10.00 a bag. stocked up.
Lump is more desirable in most cases. It burns cleaner and hotter, also produces less ash.
Very nice mods.
I see that the newer metal table fit the old Performer.
Is your probe port cover the SNS probe port cover?
The last thing I want to add to mine is a probe port hole. I bought this Stainless steel cable gland.
I just need to find the right place to install it in my Performer Deluxe.
The wood handles really pop.
Looks like you also have copper on the Tuck away lid bail.
That smoke hole, is that for a thermostatically controlled fan?
Nice work.
